The guy in the video ranks Golota as 3rd most known Pole behind the Pope and Lech Walesa. :rofl

I beg to differ. I'm a Golota supporter and all, but this guy has a distorted and extremely limited knowledge of Polish history. I guess figures like Kopernicus, Chopin, Conrad, Curie, Kieslowski, Polanski and like a gazzilion others (see a sampling here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Poles ) who are not only more known than Golota but far more influential, were overlooked by this stage historian. I know he meant well, but ranking Golota as 3rd most known, is almost an insult to Polish culture. That he shouldn't even rank him in the top 1000, simply attests to Poland's rich and complex history.

It was in a video....prior to the Golota - Bowe I fight. There was a lot of Polish ****. Kielbasa, A pic of Pope, Lech Walesa, and then at the end there was Andre Golota sitting. Then he said:

"Im not so famous like them, but I will be, after this fight"

And how right he was. I have that recorded.

When he said that, he must have been either drunk, joking or both.

yeah maybe not 3rd of all time but in recent memory he is up there. If you think about how he has opened the door for polish professional sports. Since golota has come out a bunch of people have come out of poland since golota like adamek and pudzian, before golota no one. Im not saying golota is more important but he does have an important role in athletics at least

Sadly, though, he's right. People are dumbed down there almost as badly as they are here. Who is better known here - the great research scientists of American history, great doctors, inventors, poets, statesmen, explorers, artists, architects, authors - or Mohammed Ali?

Negative. He was pretty sober, and had a serious look on his face.
