His boxing by feel obviously worked well, because it sounds like he won 3 or all of the last 4 rounds on more reporters scorecards.

Mollo's clutching definitely saved him from an exhaustion KO, but then that's why fighters do it, and perhaps Golota should've tried working the uppercut a bit more to dissuade him. Possibly that was what let him down against Ruiz too.

Looking at the punchstats, Golota was throwing 58 punches per round.
    That's a pretty notable amount, for a 40-year-old that's quite impressive.

I thought that the Valuev-Liakhovich winner was next for Chagaev?

What about the plans to match Golota with Shannon Briggs or Monte Barrett before he could get a title shot?

No disrespect to you JoeCool, but I really don't think they are gonna let Golota fight Chagaev next.

    I have to disagree!

Both men showed great heart, but Neuman helped Mollo stay in that fight. There were several occasions when he should have ended the beating that Golota was putting on him. Mollo's corner was also way too brave for him. Golota has a history of ruining fighters, Corey Sanders, Michael Grant, Riddick Bowe, even Ruiz hasn't looked the same since the Golota fight...I wouldn't be surprized if Mollo's career is finished after this. Neuman and Mollo's corner both should have stopped that fight. Beatings like that ruin fighters.

You're a good sport coming around here. It was a hell of a fight.

If Wlad and Golota both fought at age 40, Golota would win hands down. Golota might even have a chance with the "younger" Klit.

As soon as the fight was over I said Golota will fight the winner of Chagaev-Skelton, and I didn't know who won it at the time. King even made it clear prior to this fight that the winner of Golota-Mollo will be in line for a title fight next.

I give credit to Mollo for his courage and pride, I not even imagined he had so much. If JC is right and Golota is fighting Chagaev next there will be plenty of chances that we have him finally as a heavyweight champion at the end of the year! I repeat myself, I've just seen Chagaev yesterday and he is no real danger for Golota, and in the early rounds he is not so aggressive, so...hopefully he got him

I understand you because by now, after all these years Andrzej is for us more of a brother than a boxer, and every time he gets into the ring for some of us is a sort of great tribulation until the end of the fight. Said this, you can easily understand that is not so easy for him decide to leave boxing when you are just one step off a major title fight and the possibility of crowning and legitimate an entire career.

Golota was the WBC #10 before this fight, and Mollo the WBA #8.
I'd have to imagine it'd be one of those two belts that King would be pushing towards.

Given that both will be waiting #1 contenders very soon though, I'd think Golota would need to get in one or two more fights while waiting.

The question is - who? Couple easy warm-ups, or a risky bigger fight?

Nice to see you give Andrew credit, not that you have many alternatives.
I'm very glad that you were WRONG!
    Golota did not lose!
Mollo is not the next world champ!
You're a freak for loving Mollo!
    You have no life!
You need to try and get laid by a man your type!
You were crying in your bed last night!
You said all these mean things being a tough guy behind your computer, and in the end you only made a fool of yourself.
How will you spend your life on ESB now? You're not going to continue hyping up Mollo, will you? Because no will listen to that nonsense.
Why don't you just put up a pic Golota striking Mollo's face in your avatar, show that for the next 3 months...

    oh, and...

-In the opening seconds, I was a bit nervous to see Golota standing and doing nothing in response to Mollo's body punches, but cover up and get hit some more. LOL

-But after that initial early first round attack, Golota then started getting his jab pumping, and Mollo was pretty much neutralized from then on, with the exception of a few good shots that Mollo landed, flush But I think this proved that Mollo is not the powerhouse he thought he was. Golota never fell, and was never really close to falling, although he was a bit stunned a time or three. I think that was good for Golota's overall confidence boost he got from this fight.........Golota did weather it well and showed great determination.

-Mollo's excessive holding was really infuriating, as if Neuman had pulled the little ****** off of Golota sooner, Golota would have had him KDed, if not KOed.

-Mollo's career took a blow with this beating, certainly. He has now proven, TWICE, that he is not a world class fighter. And I don't see him being touted as a prospect, anymore. He's can be a decent Friday Night Fights level fighter, at best.

-I also agree that Golota vs. Chagaev don't sound likely, given that Valuev and Laikhovitch are supposedly fighting for the right to fight Chagaev, but you never know. Joecool has been a great source of inside info thus far, and maybe he's got the correct info on this, too.

-If they do fight Chag next, I think Golota will have a fair chance to finally win a title. Chagaev apparently looked pretty lackluster against Skelton, and Golota may just pull it off. And wouldn' that be quite the capper on his career, to finally win a title at 40, and after so many thwarted attempts?
