From Po'uha to Mollo, I have been on this wild ride with the whole of my heart throughout the years. My, how quickly the sands of time descend. I was but a mere youth when this crazy journey began. Upon reflection, I cannot fathom any other fan base as maligned as us. Though, I cannot think of a more devoted one either. Very few sport fans will be able to comprehend the massive suffering and anguish us Golota fans have endured throughout the years. The frustration and disappointment because the talent was so transparent, but in the end, loyalty always prevailed amongst us whom stood before each fight and acknowledged our undivided support for Andrzej no matter past horrific transgressions. Fast forward to last night, this whole journey for me took on a very human authentic turn. I felt as if I was reading the end of a book on its last chapter which I grew up with. I witnessed a 40 year old man, so vilified and degraded, have one eye shut, yet finish an exhausting night triumphant. It became very personal to me, like it was a fight dedicated to me personally, giving me some form of resolution. No matter what happens forth, I finally feel whole, like my journey with Andrzej was not a waste of time, like this chapter of my life can finally be closed on a content note. God bless you Andrew, I’ll never forget you.

If he doesn't get Chagaev, then who are they looking at for tune-ups?

I think that Moorer would be a perfect confidence booster for Golota right now.

If this thread had stickys, this awesome post would be one of them. Very nicely put. You described how I (and most of us here I'm sure) feel to a tee regarding our long LONG journey of being a part of the Golota-faithful.

    :cheers

Not too big a stretch. Brigette Neilson has aged horribly. She's only in her early 40s but she looks like she's late 50s. Remember how young and hot she was in Rocky 4?

Golota is on a ****in' roll after Norman Bates, McMuffin and then last night. He's got some very good momentum going.

The only reason he struggled at all against Mollo was due to having to fight half blind. And even then, he should have KOed Mollo if not for that stupid child molester looking Randy Neuman allowing Mollo to hold out of desperation the whole fight.

Did anyone notice Mollo talking **** thru out the fight? This little punk was trying to act like a bad ass. "What's the matter, you had enough?? Huh? Come on *****!" All this while stuumbling around the ring the entire fight. :rofl

I tend to believe this is about the best we're gonna get from a 40 year old Golota. Which is not necessarily a terrible thing. Despite his slowness, I thought he looked really good before the eye got messed up. He was smackin' Mollo around with his jab. He threw some very good body shots which probably attributed to Mollo's gasping for air the whole time. He threw some pretty nice straight rights and left hooks. I think he just might have enough to beat somebody like Chagaev or Maskeav or Valuev.

After the determined performance Andrew put on Sat. night, I think the EXPRESS deserves to be on the front page for a Monday morning.

    (((((((((((((((GO GOLOTA))))))))))))))))

    Who's next???

BTW...any word on the Poliski boxing sites on how his eye is doing?

I'm gonna call Ziggy in about an hour to see what he has to say about Golota's condition.

    :good

What a fight!! I'm so damn PROUD of Andy!!!!!!!! The whole time I was like....God don't **** this up....hang in there your doing great. I wish AG was able to score a knockdown....he totally could have too if he had just created a little more space between him and Mollo although I'm sure its easier said then done when Mollo was just charging in looking for a big ol hug. Mollo was there to be KTFO the entire night but a 40 yr old AG couldn't take him out. Its OK though because this could be attributed to only being able to half see Mollo. Golota showed HEART and the full 12 rounds ...no doubt about it was great for him in preparation for a title bout.

Golota looked as great as a 40 year old Golota's gonna look. I've said this a lot because its the only way I feel I can asses AG. My biggest problem is that he looked as if he was punching underwater and slow as all hell. Mollo really wasn't as good as I thought he was and I don't understand how his stamina could be so terrible. The 40 year old Golota was the younger man?!? Crazyness!

It really is great to see random people popping into this thread and saying they are now a fan of Golota's and see why we all love him. He really redeemed himself on Saturday!

Then to top it off ....the GIANTS pull off the HUGE OT win in Green Bay. I can't beleive they are going to the SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!! Great sports weekend.

JETSKI!!!! Whats going on?? Find out how he is doing and wish him the best from everyone on here! See who they got lined up next and when they expect the next fight to be (obviously after his eye gets healed up). Golota's probably popping a shitload of painkillers and all ****ed up.....I could see him being HILARIOUS as all hell.

THinking about it... I kinda really wish this fight did take place in Chicago so Golota coulda made up for the 2005 disaster there. Oh well!!!

    How bout them G-MEN!?!

Totally enjoyable weekend in sports!:D UNBELIEVEABLE!!!

Golota would have had multiple KD's if Mollo wasn't hanging on like a crab for dear life. Watching this Youtube highlight vid shows me that AG is a bit slow now, but still is a force to be reckoned with in there.

    http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=W1-KW1nVnII

    And now to the NFL.

Who would have thought this could happen a few weeks ago? Totaly INSANE! But I'll tell you this. From the 1st snap in the season final game vs the Pats., you could see Eli was a different QB out there. And his improved play has brought up the level of play of the entire team.

I had a good feeling going into Dallas, as I did going into Green Bay. Things are no different today looking ahead to New England.

Screw 19-0!!! Lets all buy a case of champange for the '72 Dolphins. The NY GIANTS are gonna win this thing, you watch!!!

    :hi:

No doubt about it! I was 50 year line - 15 rows up for the Giants- Pats game in Dec. They only lost by 3 in what was a totally winnable game for them. I REALLY think they are going to pull the upset in Arizona. They are on a roll and there confidance is through the roof.

Just spoke with Ziggy & he starts out with a question for me:

ZR: Did you see the fight?

me: Of course. I'd never miss a Golota fight.

ZR: How do you think he looked?

me: He did great, but looking a bit slow. He needs to keep working on that.

ZR: HE'S 40 ****ING YEARS OLD! (Then, he ask me how old I am. I tell him 55 & he invites me to the gym to put the gloves on to see how fast I am! ) I accepted!

    me: Hows his eye doing?

ZR: He'll be all right. Just bad swelling. He's resting now. He'll be OK.

me: Whats next? Title fight or one more tune up? I think one more tune up is wise.

ZR: Definitely, one more tune up then a title fight. (No names where mentioned)

me: Ziggy, are you still with Tomasz Adamek now that hes with Main Events?

ZR: Yes, I will still promote Adamek & looking for a March fight.

me: OK, Zig. Good talking to you again. Tell Andrzej to keep working hard & God bless you guys!

    ZR. Thanks you very much!

    :!:

BTW, I asked him about what JC said Golota not sparring that much for this fight & Ziggy said he sparred to prepare.

Heavyweight Andrew Golota improved to (41-6-1, 33 KOs) with his grueling twelve round decision victory over the hard-punching Mike Mollo, thirteen years his junior. Golota, wearing dark glasses to cover his right eye that was swollen shut, simply stated, "I want to thank everybody for coming to my show... it was a great card with great fights."

Promoter Don King then sang a forgettable rendition of, "Happy Birthday," to Golota, who turned 40 on January 5th.

Earlier, Golota was more talkative. "I hope nobody will ever call me a quitter again," he said after the fight. "I couldn't see anything after round eight. I had to box more by feel than what I could see. He was much faster than I thought he would be and he hit me too many times. I wish I had landed more combinations."

Mollo, on the other hand, felt Golota landed to many combinations. "I couldn't believe the number of combinations he threw for an old man," he said after the fight. "I fought the best I could. I got nervous and flustered. I wish I had done better. I didn't fight my best fight but my hat is off to him."

At the post fight presser, Molo (19-2, 12 KOs) confessed, "It was a tough night for me. Things didn't go the way I wanted them to. Andrew fought a great fight... things just didn't flow for me the way they should have." The young fighter vowed to get back in the gym with his trainer, "and work our butt's off."
