It has been proven in his last few fights that...in no way shape or form can Toney get down to a "credible fighting condition". And he has just gotten older since we last saw him so.....yea ...Golota would take this one.

Ill give Toney this though...he would have a better shot at beating Golota then beating a steroid test.

    :D

He can really build on this win. Golota will look even better in his next fight.

Bring on a name opponent! I'd be happy with any of the following opponents for AG's next fight:

    James Toney
    Shannon Briggs
    Hasim Rahman
    Michael Moorer

Even someone a little younger like a Calvin Brock would be great for Golota's resume right now.

Good fight. Is it the first time I have seen Andrew boxing wisely, and he looked good for his age (although he slowed somewhat).

I haven't seen Chagaev fight yet, but from what I have heard it seems this would be the best opponent with a title for Andrew.

BTW, I am interested how was it possible to score the fight 118:109 for Golota. It is not possible to score it this way unless you score at least one round 9:9 or 10:8 , and there was no reason to score any round like that.

Agreed! At the very least Neuman should have started deducting points for the holding. I think Mollo trained with Ruiz to get ready for that fight because all he would do was punch and grab!

I remember hearing about ten years ago that Golota and Toney sparred together. And that Toney started trying to crack Golota hard and that Golota dropped him a few times in retaliation! I also heard that around the same time, Toney was also sparring Botha and would give him fits in the gym.

Yes, it's unfortunately true. He was tremendously brave under fire against Golota but that was the price. Very sad.

Golota is not a huge puncher but he's normally quite a volume hitter, and not the kind of person it's healthy to be receiving blows against for multiple rounds.

    **** Germany! :(

    Apologize to AG first, Doucheland.

I know if that **** was done to me, I would not fight there. It is especially a low-blow since AG wasnt even on the card... he was just there watching Adamek.

Great list of possible next fights. Anyone of of those would be good, aside from Moorer. :blood

    Interesting post-fight comments:

"I hope nobody will ever call me a quitter again," said Golota afterwards. "I couldn't see anything after round eight. I had to box more by feel than by what I could see. He was much faster than I thought he would be, and he hit me too many times. I wish I had landed more combinations."

Mollo stated, "I couldn't believe the number of combinations he threw for an old man. I fought the best I could. I got nervous and flustered. I wish I had done better. I didn't fight my best fight, but my hat is off to him."

Rums, why no chatter from you on this bout? AG did damn well I thought. A bit slow at first, but at the end, he was cookin with gas. Really poured it on in the 12th compared to a 27 yr old who was dead on his feet. And he absorded some heavy blows from Mollo & kept coming. This will really give him confidence & he'll be even better next fight. Then a title shot & who's gonna stand up to him?

    I agree Jets.

For a 40 year old he was still ready to go another 3 rounds after that.

Watching it again, he wasnt THAT slow, but he has slowed no doubt.

I made one previous post in this thread after the fight. I thought Golota was as calm and collected as we've ever seen him.

Honestly, I think this is an absolutely perfect time for Golota to call it a career. I think it's awesome that he finally overcame that type of adversity, and I think this was a fitting conclusion for a long and exciting career and I also think this performance is a testament to Golota's continued desire to be great and to make amends for past failures.

That said, unfortunately, I don't believe Golota still has the tools to compete at an elite level. He's painfully slow now, and barring a match-up with someone like Maskaev, I'd be worried.

I hear a bout with Chagaev might come about next. Since I know he is not going to retire, I guess that's his best route, but in all sincerity, if Golota hung'up now, there'd be no better way to go out.

The vision of Golota raising his hand in victory after having fought half the fight with one eye is a storybook ending.

Whatever happens, the Express lives on.

    GO GOLOTA!
