No! Golota was one of my favourite boxers early 90th and he never had chance against klitchkos...just like he was out against Lewis. Bad opponets to Golota

Andrew Golota did himself and his fans proud last saturday night in New York. He fought like a champion with skill and guts and tremendous heart. However, Max Kellerman is correct in saying what he said. Very sage point he made. We, as fans, often judge fighters above and beyond how we judge ourselves and our peers. What these men do requires an incredible amount of chutzpah and balls - the average man (like myself) just cannot fathom it. That said, AG never owed anyone an explanation or apology for anything he did up in that ring in the past. It was his health and life on the line - not ours. He can only be judged by his peers (fellow fighters) and by himself. Last saturady night he passed with flying colors!

I disagree. Golota had more than a good chance against Lewis. He froze and got iced. Even Brewster iced the Pole. Today, at the age of 40, I believe a focused and determined Golota could give either Klit a good contest. The only bad opponent for Golota is "Golota" himself.

I will not say a prayer but I do hope he is ok. He seemed just fine in the post fight press conference. He gave Andrew a lot of credit and even clapped for him.

    GO MOLLO

I don't know about that. If you ask me, he was hanging onto Andrzej like a crab for dear life. Thats why he didn't go down.

Someone say he get to hard dose of sedative :patsch You're right, his biggest opponent is himself, but also he never was hardest or, fastest puncher and also his chin is not best of its kind.

I think the main reason Golota has trouble knocking hid opponents out these days has much to do with speed.

When Golota was younger he was super fast for such a big man. This explains the 28-0 with 25 KOs, most of which came in the first couple of rounds.

When he knocked Bowe down for the first time in the rematch, it was caused by a very fast and hard straight right hand that surprised Bowe, followed by a text book left hook.

When he knocked Grant down, same punch. Double jab, followed by a very quick, hard straight right hand. Then Grant did the 'sit down and shut up' dance.

Ruiz was put on his ass by a fast counter right hand to the jaw.

At age 40, he has slowed down considerably and his opponents can see the shots coming much more often. I think he would have surely knocked Mollo out had the ref not allowed him to pull a Ruiz and hold the entire fight.

Golota may be considerably slower, but he makes up for with heart (never thought I'd say that:shock: ), chin, pressure (throws punches in volume) and over all strenghth (240 lbs of raw muscle). Plus he can still box pretty damn well. His jabbed looked decent in the early rounds vs Mollo and he was throwing combinations. It's nice to at least see flashes of the 90s Golota.

    GO GOLOTA

Instead of 'Merciless' it's Mike 'The Crab' Mollo.

I think many of us knew Golota's chances fell considerably when we heard Randy Neuman would be the ref. :-(

Hoax is correct imo, in his prime Golota had a very fast and powerful straight right that he would tend to launch after the double jab. I think it was George Foreman that once stated he though Golota had the best right hand in boxing at the time (not sure about that, but it was quite good).

Right now his punches are slow, and his hooks are complete arm punches as all he uses is rotation and no legs. He still has decent power though, which is why he seems to do so much damage to opponents in the long run.

IMO, Golota has one of the best chins in the business. I can still visualize that right hand he took from Tyson. Sorry, but if that landed on Lewis or Wlad, say goodnight.

Sometimes even speed won't KO an opponent, You got to hit'em on the button with the right timing, power and/or speed. Golota knocked down Bates with a one-two and he didn't even mean to do it. He was just boxing.
