I agree, his best bet for a title is the Maskaev Peter winner. I may be alone in this contention, but I'd lean towards Golota to beat either one of them, Oleg or Peter.

But I think Vitali has that slot sewed up. I think we'll see Golota in with Chagaev, if any of the titleholders.

Here is the ideal Golota scenario:

Wlad knocks out Ibragimov in the 10th to capture the WBO besides his IBF title. The IBF strips him mid-08 for not facing, say, Michael Sprott who for some reason is the mandatory, so Golota and him have a fight for the vacant belt, and there you go!

    April/May...that's good, keeping busy.

So after that fight, much of the current title situation should be cleared up (Wlad vs Sultan, Peter vs Maskaev, and the eliminators for the WBA, WBC and IBF) and they'll have a better idea of what to go for. I still think it'll either be the WBC or WBA.

Late April will turn into June. Is this another boost or is King pushing for a title?

Hopefully the first option is a fight with Chagaev. If not then I wish he'd fight either Briggs or Rahman.

Golota-Rahman would be a great title elimination fight.

    Golota by 9th round TKO.

I'm not sure Vitaly would want to do a comeback fight against Golota.

Let's not kid ourselves. Vitali would be a very dangerous opponent, even after the layoff.

Why would Vitaly want to go straight for Golota? Not exactly the best opponent for a tune-up after a long layoff.

You're right. This isn't a good matchup for either fighter. Too much too soon for Vitali in his return bout, and at this point Golota has to think belt. Aside from money, this fight doesn't make sense yet.
