I have a hard time believing that will actually happen.

I assume it could be a warm up fight before a shot at some major title, or am I going too fast?

Hmm...well, Austin isn't rated by any of the main four boxing orgs at all...in that aspect it's a step down from Mollo.

On the other hand, it's a fight Golota can win. And sometimes a win against anyone is enough to help out a ranking, not just against another Top Ten opponent.

I think Ray Austin is fine...remember before he lost to Klitschko he was on a long unbeaten streak including a draw with Ibragimov.

I noticed though that Austin was listed as being on suspension according to boxrec. I wonder if he is taking this fight in Poland because he can't be licensed in the states right now?

WLAD is a very patient fighter. he did that slapping of sultans jab not 2 throw a jab of his own, but he did it to measure distance, the reason y it was a boring fight is because their styles made it a boring fight, sultan leans back and is hard 2 hit, especially cuz hes a small target, sultans relying on his counter ability vs. wlad, hoping for wlad to make that mistake of getting impatient, wlad is a very smart guy though, sultans strategy was to wait for wlad to overcommit, and then nail him when he is offbalance. wlad stuck to his gameplan and didn't allow sultan any chance throughout the fight to execute his gameplan. wlad used his strength as an advantage, his reach, and thats what u always want to do, use ur strengths as much as possible, get the most out of ur ability, in this case his reach. the other strategy sultan could have used was to jab his way in, and then go to work when in close, wlad on the other hand who is extremely patient, stuck to his gameplan and didn't get frustrated although probably the people in attendance did, wlad is aggressive when the time is right for him, he didn't get impatient throughout the fight, knowing that 1 mistake where he leaves himself off balance and vulnerable to get nailed and knocked out, is exactly what sultan is waiting for. styles make fights, when u have a brawler vs. a counter puncher, it should b 1 great fight because its strength vs strength at maximum exposure. in this fight they both fought the same style, waiting 2 counter, thats exactly y it was boring. thats y fraizer-ali fights were tremendous. let me say this though, a prime golota would destroy these current champions, maybe not wlad, these current champions have little skill to what golota has. when golota was at his physical prime with his past/current skill, unfortunately he didn't have that heart and soul of a champion, that he finally and hopefully seems 2 be developing now. look, there is no way sultan was gonna outbox or outpoint somebody who is physically superior, stronger, with longer arms, and more talented than himself, sultan knew he would have a chance to win, and his only chance to win was if he could execute his gameplan and bate wlad in to overcommit, wlad never gave sultan a shot 2 win, by not giving him that opportunity to execute his gameplan. thats y sultan decided to go with that strategy, it was his only shot to win. i knew there was a great possibility this fight would not live up to the hype and or peoples expectations.

exactly, if golota is to defeat wlad, he has to make him fight, golota has to jab his way in and go to work in close, the corners of the ring and along the ropes, andrezj has to test that chin of doctor steel hammer, somethin tells me his chin doesn't live up to his nickname

I think Austin would be a great choice for Golota, at this point. Decently known name who just fought to a draw against one of the titleholders.

Winnable fight for Golota, and should put him in line for a big fight, thereafter.

I would have rathered it be against somebody a tad bit higher up in the ranks like Meehan or John Ruiz, but Austin isn't much worse than Mollo and he's certainly better than McBride. At least he'll be keeping busy and sharpening up his skills (what's left of em).
