The latest from Joecool is Golota will be fighting another DK fighter from the top ten probably on some PPV undercard in June(?). I'm hoping he takes on Meehan. Good news is Golota is currently still training and staying sharp.

Golota in his prime was definitely a sight to see, but I actually feel Golota has more intangibles now than he had even in his prime. I was really impressed with him against Mollo, that was the worst shape I've ever seen Golota in but he worked through it. Too bad he didn't have such intangibles in him when he was at his best.. he definitely would've won atleast one of the alphabets. He would've definitely made slugs like Sam Peter look bad.. hell even now Golota might give Peter trouble. :yep

There's another thread going around that Vitaly won't be coming out of retirement just yet. Let's see what JC says...

VK might not come back, so Peter will fight someone next. DK wants to put Peter-Valuev unification next, then someone has to fight for regular WBA. Golota will stay busy until tittle shot.

Your right. His chance will come again for title shot. There is no rush. Golota could fight 'till he's 50 and beat these so called champions.:!:

In Germany no one doubts that Vitali will step into the ring to kick Sam Peter's ass badly once and for all. Vitali himself has said he is ready to fight, it's just a question of promoters and contracts, he wants definitely be back to make history along with his brother: the first time two brothers heavyweight champions at the same time. I think they will manage. For AG would be great to challenge next the really bad looking Peter, but I think he should concentrate on the Klitchkos or Valuev (he will end Chagaev unbeaten run next May) to get finally a well deserved title belt.

Actually it seems I lost some news in the last days...This breaking news, if true, could really open some options to Andrzej too!
Here's the story, taken directly from the Klitschko Internet Forum:

Vitali Opts For Politics Over Ring Return
Older Brother Clears Path For Wladimir Klitschko-Samuel Peter Three Belt Unification Bout!

    BREAKING NEWS!

Vitali Klitschko, the so-called WBC heavyweight champion Emeritus, is opting for politics over pugilism.

How do I know? Because Vitali said so, in plain Ukrainian in a newspaper story passed on to Boxingconfidential by our roving German correspondent Thomas “Tommy Boy” Schlabe. Wladimir’s older brother makes it clear that he going to bypass his mandated shot at WBC champion Samuel Peter.

This news could clear the way for a huge unification bout between Peter, who just knocked out Oleg Maskaev, and Wlad, a/k/a “Dr. Steelhammer,” who holds the IBF and WBO belts. If Peter fought Wladimir, the winner could then go after the one remaining belt, the WBA diadem, which will be contested in Germany May 31 when champ Ruslan Chagaev gives the man he defrocked, Russian Giant Nikolay Valuev, a rematch

The boys at HBO must be doing cartwheels over this news. Meanwhile, the Jose Sulaiman and the WBC can’t be to thrilled given the heavy criticism they received for awarding Vitali the spurious Emeritus status.

Anyway, here’s what “Dr. Iron Fists had to say to the Ukrainian newspaper:

“Vitali Klitschko might not grab the chance to fight Sam Peter next but stay retired. He told an Ukrainian newspaper that if there will be early elections for the mayor of Kiev, he will contest again for this appointment.

"I want to win the elections, making life better for the residents of Kiev. There's still a boxer named Klitschko, that is my brother Wladimir. He is going to unify all four major world titles."

"I was glad to get to fight against Samuel Peter, even as Kiev's mayor. But then again I will have a lot of work and responsibilities as a mayor thus preventing me to face him in the ring."

Personally I think that Vitali is trying to get his foot in two shoes as long as he can, waiting for the time he will have his best option clear (If he can run for Mayor of Kiev his boxing career is definitely done, if not, in his mind he will return to the ring). But, said this, it's not a good behaviour from him to his large amount of boxing fans, that are desperate to see him in the ring, something he has promised several times, the last just two weeks ago, live in the german tv RTL during the commentary of the Peter Maskaev fight.
Hopefully this will be the last time that he will be awaited to the ring, allowing to other boxers (AG:D ) to get a shot at the title.

    GO GOLOTA!!!!!!!:happy

I am honestly not certain if Vitali not taking his mandatory defense is the best thing for Golota. I honestly don't see Peter fighting Golota at this point. Andrew still needs another name win to prove he is back. Peter is going to attempt unification and I bet he will lose the belt to someone else before Golota could get him in the ring.

However, if Peter were to fight Vitali next, then Golota could be the optional defense for whoever wins that fight. By that time Golota will have beat someone else and will be in a better position.

I hope King does not make a Golota-Ruiz II. Ruiz is dreadful and Golota-Peter would be a very interesting fight that people would love to see. Golota has an excellent chance to beat Peter and I really hope this fight happens. Vitaly would have torched Peter in his prime but his body simply cannot make it through the vigorous training without breaking down. Vitaly had a much more crowd pleasing style than Wlad and He had the tools to really dismantle Peter. Had is the operative word here. Golota could beat Peter now.
