In this article Ziggy Rozalsky says that Golota didn't come back to training after the Mollo fight which is pretty strange cause he was always training a lot even when he wasn't preparing to fight:

"He's had enough of boxing. No one knows when he comes back to the gym. He was supposed to fight in May but now it's unreal. Maybe he'll come back to the ring in autumn."

These rumors are just the roller coaster ride that comes with being a true fan. No worries guys. AG will be back. He hasn't come this far to just give up!

Exactly, Golota is a top heavy and a name brand (cha-ching, cha-ching) in boxing. If he leaves King, someone else will profit.

Honestly, I still feel the win over Mollo was a perfect exit for Golota at this stage. Overcoming adversity made the journey worthwhile for me. Sure, it wasn't for a belt, but that at age 40, he beat down a young punk and local rival with one eye, well, I felt it was a fitting time to call it.

Of course, if he fights on, I'm on board, and if he wins a title, all the better.

I'm just concerned about his speed at this stage.

But it does seem to me as if Golota might be putting the squeeze on King.

Seems to me like if Golota has not shown up to train as he normallly does, that was not out of spite against King, cause this was right after the fight, and Golota didn't have any reason yet to believe that King was not working on him another fight, as he had just had the Mollo fight.

Sounds to me like Golota saw the Mollo win as his last hurrah, and as Rumsfeld said, it would make a good note to go out on. Maybe the fight and training took more out of him than he thought it would, and decided all of the training and early hours are now too costly at his age, not to mention the beating his eye took in that last fight.

If he does fight on, it'd be great to see, as I think he could give Peter a very competitve fight. I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling that the rumor is true, given how out of the norm as his behaviour is, and how its been quite a while and nothing on another fight........ I think we've seen the last of Golota.

Never thought the day would come...or at least never wanted to believe it would come. But believe me fella's, as you get older, the mind is willing, but the body just doesn't want to cooperate. Theres alot of physical & mental anguish that comes along with training. I thought Golota was a junky for putting his body through hell, but eventually, everyone finally says enough is enough.

Man, I hope I am so wrong about this...

I don't buy it. The ball is in King's court. We'll probably be hearing something soon.

True, but his performances against Mollo and McBride were too good to hang it up just yet. I just don't buy it.

Thats how I felt. Golota looked like he was actually enjoying himslef in there for once. If he whipped himself into shape for Bates, McB & Mollo, whats 1 or 2 more times? He's got to keep on keeping on...

No way am I calling Ziggy to confirm this rumor. Thats news I don't wanna hear. Ever.

Knowing how much of a draw and money maker that Golota is for King, it would not stand to reason that King would be the one holding up the next fight, as it would only hinder himself.

If there is money to be made for King, you can bet that King won't be the one holding it up. LOL

King isn't gonna convince Golota to do anything. Andrezj is his own man, & if he's says its over...then its over.

Have to fully agree with Rums here. Golota was so slow last time around with Mollo. That's what happens to big tanks like Golota when they reach a certain age. Doesnt matter how much he works on his speed, it won't help him much. Plus the left jab and hook are only a shadow of what used to be. Defense is shot. Golota makes up for a lot of this with over all strength and a new and improved heart, but this will only take you so far. Of course it will suck to except the fact that it's officially over after all these years, but I'd much rather Golota stop now with his head up than after yet another disappointing loss. He's suffered too much of that in his career and so have we.

But if he continues on, I'll be rooting for him as always.

    Go Golota
