Exactly. I think Meehan is a waste of time.

**** Moorer and Meehan. He should fight a opponent he could beat easy who just had a title. A win over Maskaev clinches him to one.

After seeing Maskaev v Peter, he was horrid. Golota would whoop him.

I guess if you're looking for a stay busy fight it isn't too bad...just that Golota is aging. The window on his career gets closer and closer to closing every month. Meehan really strikes me as a middle of the rung fight for him right now...unless of course the plan is to stay busy until after Valuev and Chagaev get crackin (whenever that may be).

Meehan knocked Davarryl Williamson the f out. I guess that gave Meehan a nice boost in the rankings, but he hasn't done much since.

If the Meehan fight is an eliminator, it's a no-brainer. Take it!

I also think Golota would lay a major whopping on Glass Jaw Oleg.

Either would be good opponents. So, too, would Moorer.

Regardless of foe, Golota shall inevitably kick some major ass soon!

Meehan got blown out by the likes of fragile chin Rahman and Danny Williams, Golota would smoke him fearlessly.

Speaking of Rahman, any chance they might look in his direction for a fight?

Maskaev is not promoted by King and that may be the problem. They had problems with him to stage a fight with Peter. I don't know if they want to dela with his promoter anymore.

    Is Maskaev a possible opponent?

The Rahman-Meehan fight was a long time ago, when the Rock was still one of the top boxers in the divison. Apart from the loss to Williams, Meehan's two other losses came against top opposition at that time (Rahman and Brewster, both in their primes). I would would rate Meehan as a slightly better opponent than Mollo and a good tune-up/keep-busy fight for Golota. I still say an eliminator bout with Povetkin, if possible, would be brilliant.

The deal is at this point in his career, he needs guys better than Mollo/Meehan. I know he can't FORCE guys to fight him but Meehan and Mollo-types don't look like they're going to get him into contention for an alphabet soup belt.

If they're looking to keep Golota busy then this is fine but if the plan is to use a guy like Meehan to get a title shot, I don't see it happening.

Joecool said the Meehan fight is most likely an eliminator for the winner of Valuev / Chagaev.

There is not a lot of top rated opponent ready to fight. Those with guarenteed tittle fight will not risk fight with Golota. Others have fights schedules or Golota to big risk.

I figure as much...that sucks so damn much.

Sucks that he's gotta sit on the outside lookin in when guys like Skelton, Audley friggin Harrison, Davryll Williamson and James Toney are all having their names tossed around when it comes to title shots.

That's a pretty easy eliminator for a major belt. If I was Golota's mng. I would do everything to make this fight possible. Outside of a KO/TKO, Meehan has no chance in winning this.
