meehan's ranked pretty high by the WBA, #3 i believe. this is some nice matchmaking on behalf of the foul pole's people.

Thats good news. Anyone know what date Rahman/Toney is??? I didn't see it on the Fightnews schedule of upcoming fights.

    ((((((((((GO GOLOTA)))))))))))

He wins that one & we're on the either Chagaev or Valuev!:smoke

It says July 17th on Boxrec.com in California. Not a lot of time. I hope he's been training.

Is the Meehan fight still an eliminator, joecool?

    What of the Briggs fight?

I prefer the Briggs fight, and it's actually a pretty intriguing fight too. I'd say Golota eventually wears him down. It would be pretty nice to see.:yep

I think Briggs is a slightly bigger risk early on, but Golota should be able to outwork him if he makes it through the early going.

However, if the Meehan fight is definitely an eliminator, THAT is the route to take.

Regardless, the Toney-Rahman rematch is RIGHT around the corner. July 16 if memory serves.

    GO GOLOTA!!

    Why?

    Heres the rankings...

    WBC
    #8 = AG
    #9 = Meehan
    No rank for Briggs

    WBA
    #3 = Meehan
    #6 = AG
    No rank for Briggs

    IBF
    #11 = AG
    #13 = Meehan
    No rank for Briggs

    WBO
    #9 = Meehan
    No rank for AG
    No rank for Briggs

Beat Meehan & improve his ranking & maybe (probably) get a Title shot. Briggs is a bum, a waste of time.

You're right. Don't mistake me, if Meehan is an eliminator bout, then absolutely take that fight.

I'm just talking about the Briggs fight being an intriguing match to see. I think if Golota survives the early going it would showcase his skills, much like the McBride fight. I think it would be a beat down.

Another good question for Joecool. Almost 6 weeks till mid July, so I think he'll be as ready as he's gonna be.

Honestly, I think that Briggs is better for Golota even though Meehan is ranked higher. Briggs is a former champ and a bigger loud mouth. Also, Briggs can't get into fighting shape to save his life. As long as Golota gets out of the first round Briggs is screwed. Meehan is more dangerous because he has a lot more heart than Briggs and will be in the fight till the very end.

Either way I am just excited that Andrew will be back in action soon!

I hope this fights goes through, any news on the confirmation or just a speculation yet?

Depending on what kind of shape Briggs is, he may be a bigger threat to Golota than Meehan, but he also might attract more interest and more money.

Anyway, it seems Golota is after a title shot, so Meehan is the better option for that.
