I disagree. Someone like Golota will have a great chance at knocking him out *IF* he works the body right.

Agreed. One of the scariest things about Valuev is that he has damn good stamina, ESPECIALLY for such a big dude.

But alas! Golota's stamina ain't too shabby either, and I reckon Valuev is slow enough that Golota SHOULD be able to cause him all types of problems.

If he digs to Valuev's body the way he did Byrd's (which should be easy, given the much bigger target he has to work with), I honestly believe Golota can slay this giant!

[/SIZE]Former WBA heavyweight titleholder and mandatory challenger Nikolai Valuev has petitoned the WBA for an opportunity to fight for a vacant or interim title after his challenge against Ruslan Chagaev was postponed for the second time. Chagaev, who suffered an achilles tear in his left ankle yesterday, will undergo surgery Monday and is expected to be out of action for six months. "Of course we are disappointed," said the Sauerland managing director Chris Meyer. "Valuev has been waiting for over 14 months for the rematch and has twice undergone a complete preparation. If we wait for Chagaev's recovery process, it would be almost two years before his first mandatory defense. For us, this long period of time is out of the question. In addition, there were press reports of Chagaev having further health problems, so it's not clear when he'll really box again. Therefore, we've put the application with the WBA for Nikolai to fight for the vacant world title within a short time."

If he says an offer was made to Golota, I believe him, and am holding hope that Golota will soon slay the giant for his first championship!
