Andrew Golota has returned to training but does not know his rival’s name

    Who is Arreola?

Andrew Golota (41-6, 33 KO) in the last months has given inspiration to his son Andrew who is playing in tennis tournaments. Just last week Andrew returned to his boxing preparation. Information has come forward of a “willing” rising American boxing star, undefeated 27 year old Chris Arreola (24-0, 21 KO). His name was mentioned for fights coming this fall among other names like David Tua. I decided to verify this information with the main source Andrew Golota himself and his trainer Sam Colonna. I’ve arranged for another longer interview with Don King pertaining to Andrew Golota and the Tomasz Adamek – Steve Cunningham title fight.

    Have you returned to training?

I’ve been training all along but playing tennis, not boxing. No need to mention it, but it hurts less. Yesterday I’ve been supporting my son, who won his 10 year old tournament 7:5, 6:2. I’ve never been so nervous in my life. Generally it doesn’t compare to the nerves when I’m fighting. It’s probably 100 times worse being a father watching your son trying to win. I don’t know how’ll be able to get through the next tournament. As far as boxing? I’ve been training for a week now with Sam Colonna in the south of the city. It’s a bit far but what can I do? In a few days I’ll finally be flying to Colorado to work my conditioning. I should have flown out earlier but Andy started playing his tournaments.

The name Chris Arreola tells you what?

Who? I have no clue who this is. Why do you ask?

Because perhaps he would want to fight you, and in Poland…

Let him get in line. There has been no talk of this, no names. I only know that I should be ready for September because something is in the works. I haven’t even been thinking about it, like there’s nothing to discuss on the topic of fighting in Poland. My goal is the same as is was 6 months ago – I want to fight for the title, and not just be shifted around.

Sam, Andrew knows nothing about a proposition for a fight with Chris Arreola...

Neither do I. It’s probably just the media’s dream.

    Would you favor this?

Absolutely not. This is probably one of the worst opponents that Andrew could face. He’s young, hungry, he comes forward like a bull, punches don’t move him, and he hits hard. He’s a little green technically, but he’s improving with every fight. What would it do for Andrew? Nothing. No money, no splendor. It’s a terrible idea.

Your first impressions from Andrew’s training?

It’s only been a week so there’s not much to talk about, because he never comes in fat, overweight, or out of shape. Andrew is always in shape. I won’t talk much about boxing because it’s too early. He should be ready by September.

    Jets and Lou...

I got my bachelors in economics from the university of connecticut. i have been searching for any jobs involving any type of financial work all over Connecticut, mostly fairfield county. I also have looked a little in westchester and NYC but with nothing to show for it except a few interviews. Everyone has just been telling me how bad the market is and its a terrible time to graduate lol very reassuring. Oh well hopefully something will come along eventually

    Thanks for the info!

I agree with Colonna, a fight with Arreola is all risk and little reward right now. Glad to see that he is in shape and will be fighting in Sept.

I think Colonna has too high of an opinion of Arreola.

Arreola won't get by his first top ten opponent. Golota would paste him.

    LOL

Hehe ... I think the idea for Golota may be to clean out all the up commers since the title holders doesn't want to fight him. So if Golota beat all of the Arreolas, Mollos, then Peter and others will have no other option but fight him

Colonna tells it like he sees it. He was saying the same things about Mollo. Everyone is talking about who the top American prosepcts are. I don't think Arreola is any better than Mollo. Mollo was considered one of the top upcoming American heavies. He was supposed to be the man. Now no one talks about him, yet Golota still doesn't get respect. I don't believe a guy like Arreola can beat Golota, although anything is possible.
