This is true, and frankly, I had a very bad feeling before the Mollo fight.

It was probably the first time ever before a Golota fight where I was honestly expecting the worse, and lo and behold, Golota rose to the occassion and overcame adversity. Go figure! GO GOLOTA!

Most of these Golota fans here on ESB aren't even Polaks....

First of all, there aren't just "polaks" here. That's like saying Mike Tyson only has black fans. Second, Adamek will never become the legend that Andrew Golota is, nor will he have a fanbase of that magnitude. Third, there are no new "up and comers" that are high caliber type fighters in the heavyweight division, with the exception of the Ruski league. Mike Mollo was supposed to be the next American champ, look what happened to him. If you don't like Golota then go stuff yourself. You can hate him, or disrespect him, or just be plain jealous. The fact remains that Andrew could still put a lickin on any top heavyweight, including your ass.

Yeah, let Andrew know he's got all kinds of fans here, not just Polish ones. I was intrigued by his style of fighting from the beginning, and I've always rooted for the underdog. Win, lose or draw (damn Byrd fight!), he's always been my favorite fighter.

    Go Golota!

Still no real Golota news, I guess? Nothing from Joecool lately?

I've been...away, so to speak. He'll fight someone, prob in Sept. At least thats what Scoop told me a couple of weeks ago.

Golota's still got his heart in it. :good

As a matter of fact I'm italian, living in Italy, and I've never been in Poland unfortunately. But I'm a great fan of Andrzej, I adore that kind of little craziness of the big boy, I simply enjoy like I never do with other boxers;)

You could say he "one of a kind"

    or

When they made Golota, "they broke the mold"

Probably hit the mold right where his balls would have been!:yep

I agree very much with everything you said, except for that statement, which i think is debatable. Sure, the heavyweight division has got more cache and Golota will be the more infamous fighter for mostly the wrong reasons, but Adamek is equally skilled, has already achieved more and his career still has a long way to go. Lastly, although there are many non-Polish Golota fans, I get the feeling that Adamek has or will attract many more international fans than AG, because of his success inside the ring. Success breeds publicity and the media has lately been kind to Adamek and have virtually blackballed Andrew. As an example, just look at the last Adamek fight, where AG was in attendance and ESPN couldnt even bother showing him in that tiny room. lol. I guess they had a little too much of the Golota roller coaster and took a page out of Showtime who swore never to televise this maniac again.

Adamek is awesome but he will never be Andrew Golota.

I bring you the example of my country: in Italy virtually no one knows anything about Adamek ( that I appreciate as a skillfull boxer), but the most know about Golota, not all like him, many understimate him, but he is well known to the fans.
His battles against Bowe made him so famous, I don't think Adamek will never release such a performance

Agreed. Golota not only had great skills in his prime (and even at age 40 he just may pull a George Foreman), he is also a character. Much like Mike Tyson, this is what draws so many to him and makes him so intriguing. Adamek is a very good fighter and has already acheived more than Golota, but he will never have this. Also, the Bowe-Golota wars will forever be frozen in time as two of the heavyweight's most exciting, bizarre, dramatic fights in boxing history. Adamek is still young and has plenty of years ahead, but the Bowe-Golota wars will be pretty darn tough to top (even though his wars with Briggs were indeed great).
