I would love to see Golota-Wlad, but I have a bad feeling.

I prefer a Valuev fight. Valuev can't hurt Andrew so he'd have a shot. Wlad can box and punch.

The only thing is that Wlad gets tense in there too, sort of like Golota does. Golota's improved in this regard so who knows if this is something Golota can take advantage of for a change.

Not to rain on any parades, but I have to agree.

I don't like this, Golota is too damn slow, and I love the guy and don't want to see him lose again. WK is arguably in his prime right now while Golota is way past it.. just too slow. Prime for prime, it's a no brainer. But not today.

If this fight happens I don't think I would be able to watch. My nerves wouldnt be able to take it, id probably die of a fuking heart attack before the opening bell.

Thing Golota has going for him I think though, is that Golota is a pretty good technical boxer. I don't think Wlad has fought a guy like him before. What is the best name on his resume? Byrd...? Brewster..? He lost to Brewster too, except he had a rematch. No way a focused Golota would have lost to Brewster. Golota got robbed against Byrd. None of these guys present the style Golota does, except that unfortunently its just a shell of what he used to be, but none-the-less. Maybe.. just maybe.

Rumours of a possible Golota-Wlad fight first surfaced in late 1999/early 2000 after Golota's loss to Grant.

That would have been the ideal time for Golota to fight Wlad, and I believe Golota would have won back then fairly easily. Wlad was a little green still and Golota was still close enough to his physical prime and had not yet suffered the shoulder injury which forever ruined his once-stellar jab.

I think Golota would have beaten Wlad at any point between 1999-2004, but that time has passed.

The biggest obstacle for Golota to overcome now is handspeed--he no longer has any, although, once upon a time, Golota had deceptively quick hands.

    It's a shame.

Golota is gonna take this fight, too, I suspect, and why wouldn't he? Guaranteed title shot against the best heavyweight in the world?

If he takes the Valuev route, he first has to beat Austin, and that's no give me.

At his age, if he wants one more guaranteed shot at the title, he needs to accept the challenge from Wlad.

    DO IT! DO IT!

Oh MAN!!! Golota has to think that he can beat Wlad. He's knows he's nothing but a big *****, just like we've been saying all along.

Heres another article from Scoop. Prob written before this the rumor surfaced about Wlad seeking a replacement for povetkin.

No matter what happens I hope he at least goes the distance. Golota is tough, regardless of what the haters say. I hope he gives Wlad hell if this goes through, which I suspect it might.

Its all or nothing. If he's gonna do it, I want him to beat the (supposed) best. Tough fight for Andrew, but I believe he can do it!!!!!!!

Forget about Wlad. Scoop just wrote me & said he talked with Golota & Ziggy last night. The plan is to beat Austin & then the giant. They're on the plane to China as we speak.

    That is all...

I think this is the best way to go. Not easy but doable.

Wlad is too quick and he's a good boxer, it would be tough for AG to outbox him. He'd have to get lucky and land something big on his chin, and there's no guarantee of that.

    This is the right choice.

I'm not so sure that it IS the right choice (assuming Golota actually had a choice in the matter).

Option A means he has to beat Austin just to get a title shot against Valuev.

Option B means he is GETTING a title shot against Wlad.

At age 40, can Golota really afford to give up this type of opportunity?

I concede, his chances of winning a title are probably better going through Austin in hopes he can beat Valuev, but he may have had a chance against Wlad....just maybe.

Now, there are no guaranteed title shots.

It is definitely the correct move. Fighting Wlad, the guy who crushed Austin in 2, after 10 months of inactivity would be borderline ******ed. Granted, Austin won't be easy, not to mention Valuev, but that is the way to go.
