It should be a lesson to aging boxers to know when to stop. One can't fight nature. At 40, Golota's spirit may be willing but his flesh is weak.

So, I hope your mantra, i.e. GO GOLOTA! would be forever put to a halt.

    Goodbye, Golota!

I have not seen the fight, and may not bother watching (although my curiosity may get the best of me).

In truth, I really thought a perfect time for Golota to hang them up was after the Mollo fight. He's old and slow, and even though part of me would liked to have seen him officially win a title, I thought a victory over a younger local rival was a storybook ending.

He should retire and enjoy life.

In the end, for some one who came to America looking to become a truck driver, he did alright for himself in professional boxing.

Best wishes, Andrew! Thanks for all the fond memories.

You realise he was down from the first punch thrown? And that was no "flash knockdown". So what are you saying, he went into the ring with an injured amr? Bull****.

It doesn't mean anything if someone get right up, you can get up while your head is still in lala land, it's the natural instinct of a fighter. A flash knockdown is a knockdown that doesn't have any effect on the knocked down fighter and you could see that wasn't the case with Golota, he was visibly hurt by that punch.

He was caught cold, no question.
But there's more than that: apart from the knock down he looked sooo
slow, almost lethargic, he looked like he was 60, not 40! It's evident that the time has come for him to hang the gloves and enjoy a new life, his family and the money he deservedly gained in his long career.
I'm a great fan of the man, always will be.
Thank you Andrzej, thanks for all the fun you got me watching memorable fights, like the Bowe ones WHO WILL REMAIN IN THE HISTORY OF BOXING FOREVER. I will always remember you as my favourite.

    :rofl

He sucks, he's slow, he looked the part of an old man in his 70s.
What do you want for the guy? Do you want to see him die in the ring?

He quitted against Tyson and Grant for ****s sake.

    GOLOTA SUCKS!

Nah, his official farewell fight was against Mollo at MSG (to me anyway). As Rums said, that should have been his last and that's how I will remember Golota leaving the sport and his fans.

Throw this China fight out the window. Golota is just too old and his body can no longer sustain. I have seen the fight and I am proud of Golota for staying in there fighting with his arm injury as long as he could. His left arm was DEAD and he was still trying to knock Austin out with right hands. That's heart and courage baby!:boxer

Here's to over twelve and a half years of die hard Golotaholism!!!

    :cheers

    To all Golota fans:

Pay no attention to douchebags like this joker. Golota at age 40 tried his heart out, but retired to an arm injury. Be proud of Golota. I know it sucks for him to go out like this, but he's come a long way from the embarrassing DQs and quit jobs. Golota's skills and body have taken their final toll, but he grew a heart.

Dont let ****heads like this guy ruin our Golota appreciation thread. Let's just try to enjoy our final moments as it is now all over.

Just telling the truth, Jon2. Golota twice quit in his fight. First w/ Tyson, and second in this fight.

Here's the Youtube of his fight w/ Tyson.
