Seems to me, Austin "warmed" Golota up with that left hook in the first 2 seconds of the round that dropped Golota. Just like McBride warmed him up in the first round knocking Golota around the ring as well. Golota really didn't even seem hurt by that shot at all, he got up quickly and seemed ready for battle until he noticed he no longer had a functional left elbow.

Golota showed a lot of heart and was still attacking Austin with right h hands. This was no quit job so **** all these idiots talkin' trash. Golota left the quit in him back in 2000 against Tyson! He showed GUTS and courage against Austin for trying to continue!

i'm sure golota will be back, he was seriously injured and had every rite to quit, no sense in continuing fighting with one arm, austin didnt hurt him once, even tho he dropped him twice and as regards to the tyson fight golota was wise to quit, he could have very well died as he had an injury in his skull that could have pierced his brain,

Injury or not, when a guy like Austin beats you from pillar to post, you have to know its time to hang em up. The injury, after all, was caused by Austin during the fight so there is no excuse here. Its really the same old first round woes and its something Andrew will not be able to fix. It's part of his make up. We saw this against McBride and to a lesser extent against Mollo. Lennox drew the blueprint of how to beat Golota and every heavy with some power has been following this ever since. Let's face it: In terms of his opponents' skill level and accomplishments, this is Golota's worst defeat ever. He needs one more closing fight against a Jeremy Bates type of fighter and he needs to say goodbye to the sweet science. It's over!

For more than a decade everyone has known that this is Andrew's Achile's heel. This is a liability that Golota will never be able to fix. Trust me, Colonna did all he could to help him in this regard and so did Bloodworth and all the other trainers. It is too obvious to miss.

Former Champ??? NABF or USBA? He really needed someone who could get through to him before and during the fights. He is probably not the easiest guy to get throught to with regular coaching skills. Many have tried. Warming up his body and his mind before each and every fight has to be a big job for whoever is his coach. Best of luck.

It is not over. It is only a setback. Look at how many setbacks Holyfield has had and he is older and getting a title shot.

    GO GOLOTA!!!

I think that's wishful thinking. Why would you want him to go on when he just got battered by Austin? Holyfield has had his share of defeats, but never against a guy like Austin. In retrospect, when you have problems with guys like McBride or Mollo (who, it was once again confirmed today is no contender of any kind), you know that you can't go up the ladder of difficulty much further. Face it: Today's version of Golota has just hit his ceiling of potential agianst Austin. Asking him to launch another comeback at this stage is cruel.

He is done, if you ask me. The first or second shot dropped him, and it was all downhill from there. He may have gotten an arm injury at some point, but he was being eaten up from the opening bell.

Put a fork in him, cuase our beloved Foul Pole is done, if you ask me.

    Thanks for the link.

In short: torn bicep, 3 months healing at least. He thinks he got a punch to the arm and that caused it. He didn't want to quit but knows the corner would throw in the towel if he wanted to fight. He doesn't know what's next regarding his boxing career.

I'd like to see him against someone of Jeremy Bates class in a goodbye fight. The man deserves it.

I agree with Izo, Brisack. Golota is cooked and he's over done. He's too old and slow now, he could really get hurt in there against better opponents. Look what Brewster did to Golota and that was when he was 37, he'll be 41 soon. Golota seems to have no chin at all for the first round, he gets hurt early in nearly every fight now. Sometimes he can recover and sometimes not, but the fact that he's getting dropped early by guys like Brewster and Austin is a clear sign that he needs to retire for good. If he wants one last farewell fight against a total bum then I'd be there as always but to me it's unnecessary at this point, his farewell fight was against Mollo.

It is time to let Golota go.

It was honestly a flash knockdown. I think McBride had him in more trouble and Andrew came back to get him.

He will have surgery but not in China and he will fight again. Andrew also said it wasn't his choice to stop, the doc said no more.
