Andrew at age 45 needs to weigh 235. He lacks flexibility, conditioning and fought flat footed.

I still laugh every time I watch this from Bowe-Golota 1. Looks and sounds like he's taking it up the shitter.

I'd say Andrew at 45 needs to stay the hell out of the ring and enjoy life after boxing.

I've been watching some rounds of Golota-Norris lately. Golota looked like **** WAAAYYYY WAY back then and that was 13 years ago! Can't believe he's been a shot fighter for that long yet he has still been trying to compete. He was cooked well over a decade ago (enter Bart).

Having said that, he gave a pretty good account of himself against both champions Byrd and Ruiz. Even a shot version of Golota did enough to win those belts and that's something to be said.

Sure was Jets, me and a few friends stayed in Steamboat Springs, Co for a few days. Very nice ski town with lots of other things to do, depending on what time of year you go. It's a small 'western' town but has lots of live music, bars, good restaurants, shops for tourists and all that. I snowboard but quite honestly I suck as I can't do it too often living in Texas but the ski mountain is real nice. All the locals were extremely friendly/hospitable.

Strawberry Park hot springs was the highlight of our trip. Swimming in 140 degree water while it's snowing outside is incredible. And if you go after dark you and your lovely wife are allowed to swim nude if you so wish.

Or perhaps you'll get lucky like me and my friend here (i'm on the left) and cuddle up with a BBW in your luxurious hotel hot tub. :deal

I don't know man. At 45, I suppose maybe he still could, but to what end?

He appeared quicker than what I was expecting, but Saleta himself is no Speedy Gonzalez. So maybe appearances are deceiving.

It was a good scrap for a couple of 45 year olds.

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

Yeah, he was definitely looking for a breather. I was almost wishing he'd mix it up and throw a low blow combo for old time's sake.

It seems to this day, when in the midst of battle, Golota is quick to overextend himself to the point where he looks for ways to find a quick break and get a breather.

It's funny though. Even now, with zero expectations (compared to the high ones we used to have throughout so many years), I still felt a flash of the anticipation of what it was like going through a Golota fight, from the ring walk, to the stare down, to the opening bell, and the fight itself. It had ups and downs, and ultimately ended in disappointment. In a way, it was symbolic of watching his entire career to some extent.

Oh well! It was a fun career to watch unfold. The intrigue will still persist when pondering how things could have unfolded a bit differently.

Had he signed with Don King following the Bowe fights, I think things could have been a great deal different.

    That is Hoax himself :D

as the Golota is still intending to fight this may end up with a battle against
the former champ RJJ who may be willing to come back to HW ranks.

Real surprised with how aggressive Golota came out and how he was working the jab. It seemed Saleta's plan was to go to the body early and often and it looks like it worked in tiring Golota out. The KD was somewhat legit as he did catch him with a hook before shoving him.

As much as it hurts to say it I think Golota could have gotten up and finished the round, but he was mentally defeated. There was only 10 seconds left and after being counted out he seemed as if he could have gone on. I'd love to see a rematch with Golota coming in with better cardio, but it seems as if Saleta wants no part of it.

Yeah Golota appeared much quicker than I expected as well. Offensively, I think it was the best I've seen him since possibly the 90s. He was snapping his jab out pretty quickly, landing good combinations (particularly his trademark left hook to the body/left hook to the head). But he is still WAY too easy to hit, he's a punching bag and has no defense. He tries to do the things he used to do very well like head movement but he just doest have the reflexes to do that effectively anymore and he ends up getting nailed almost every time.

I think those body shots by Saleta is what did him in, you could see on Golota's face they were hurting him and caused him to tire as well. Plus he was pretty soft, Saleta looked damn ripped for a 45 year old.

I didnt see the fight live, I was on vacation and after a long night of drinking I came back to my hotel room and checked fightnews for the results. Wasn't surprised at all, but I was once again let down and sad. At least these days when Golota loses it's pretty much expected due to his age and deterioration. Back in the day after losing to Lewis, Grant, Tyson it was a very sad next couple of weeks. We had such high hopes/expectations for him. These days ya just kinda shrug it off but it still hurts my heart.

Ultimately, following Golota's career and being such a big fan over all was very disappointing. He could have gone so much further in his prime (and without the car accident). But it was still a fun ride and he gave us some very exciting moments. I highly doubt any boxer (or any sportsman for that matter) will give me the kind of rush Golota gave me. The Bowe fights, Corey Sanders fight, the Pouha fight, Nicholson fight, The Grant knock downs, the Byrd fight, the Mollo fight, the ring walks, the week before a Golota fight, the crowd chants of "Andrzej!!!". There is just nothing else like it.
