After the saleta fight I was 99.9% positive we'd NEVER see Golota in the ring again. The only reason i wasn't 100% positive was I remember reading about a reporter asking Golota if he'd ever fight again after he lost to Saleta and his answer was "i don't know..." Figured maybe he was simply still punch drunk from the fight  but the next day he'd think clearly enough to realize it's OVER.

Win lose or draw this better be his last fight for god's sake, he's just too old, slow and battle worn to be doing it anymore.

In the words of Danny Glover, Golota needs to say to himself "I'm too old for this ****."

I was very disappointed about him losing to Saleta and going out on a loss so I'm truly hoping he can go out on a win against Doc but he's so shot quite frankly I wouldn't put any money on Golota to win in a rematch against Jack Basting!!

Over the years, I have never seen anyone other than you reference the Basting fight even once, and you've done so repeatedly and it makes me happy every time I'm reminded of that one.

    :cheers

The Basting fight always struck me as comical. Golota was on the comeback trail after the Lewis debacle and Basting was an out of shape 5'10 42 year old with a gimped knee. He was also a self proclaimed 'ladies man' I remember hearing he worked nights as a stripper. I guess they were just keeping Golota busy but what a **** matchup!

    Nice! :good

Is October really the "Farewell" show this time? Wasn't that what the Saleta fight was supposed to be?

I don't recall the Saleta fight being called Golota's farewell fight, I think it was dubbed 'Polish fight of the Century' or something like that. But then again didn't they label the Golota-Adamek fight something similar?

In any event I think this is truly supposed to be Golota's farewell fight although as another posted said earlier I think after this fight Golota should start calling out all his old foes but only the ones he's already beaten. Then the next 2 to 3 years will bring us Golota-Sanders 2, Golota-Dixon 2, Golota-Boogieman 2. I like the theme!!
