    Ran in to this recently.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWTrrX7MDds

Footage of Golota training for his fight against Lennox Lewis. The interviews with Golota are in Polish but you can make out some of what Duva, Bloodworth, Larry Merchant are saying beneath the translated overdubs.

Jameel McCline has a small interview, I didn't know he helped prepare Golota for his fight against Lewis. Would make sense given his height and also help train Golota to keep from throwing low blows.

Golota seems very calm and relaxed days before the fight, didn't seem intimidate by Lewis at all during the press conferences. Laughing and joking a lot.

18 years ago today the Foul Pole was man-handled by Lennox inside 1 round

I was 6 at the time, and my dad woke me up at 4 or 5 in the morning because I wanted to watch Golota, I remember after the 1st KD, I asked my dad 'what's wrong with Golota, is he drunk again?" :nut

I'm still curious to this day what they injected into Golota's knee before the fight :think

Lidocaine. Same stuff mayweather uses on his hands. It's a stronger version of Novacaine. Golota had an adverse reaction to it- which caused a seizure and cardiac arrest (he lost his pulse for 35 seconds) he should of never been on the ring that night. A judge agreed and awarded him 1.4 million dollars a few years back.

There were reports that golota is a eunuch and he couldn't understand why he was disqualified for punching Bowes nether regions.

I'm more curious about what was going on prior to the fight that he was very late showing up to the venue, and wound up receiving a police escort there.

Yep, it was lidocaine. And he won the suite against Dr Katz or Katzman or whatever it was, and reportedly the injection hit an artery or something and had Andrew all f'd up.

Many claimed the lidocaine had little to do with Golota's performance against Lewis, he was simply scared of Lewis and nervous as **** about fighting for the title for the first time. After the fight Golota himself admitted he was too nervous and felt too much pressure by everyone harping on him about the low blows. But then later on said he felt as if he was in a daze due to the injection.

I believe the drug had more to do with Golota coming out so timid than him being intimidated by Lewis. Bowe had a much more menacing reputation than Lewis during that time and Golota wasn't intimidated one bit, came out jabbing the at the start of both fights. Same with Grant. Against Lewis he just stood there like a zombie not throwing anything.

He also showed up late to the fight. i remember hearing Golota's camp asked for more time to warm up and the Lewis camp said no.

That was a hell of a beating Golota put down on Bowe. When Golota was "on song" he was pretty bloody good. So no shame in getting beat down by AG.
