Everyone KNOWS TKO6 is fact but you still had idiots spamming up garbage threads regarding that fight so it had to be done!

And stop asking admin if you can become a MOD it’s not going to happen.

 

If people were making overly repetitive threads, ban them. You don't falsely define a great fight like that, and make it a ****ing sticky thread on top of that.

Personally, of course Lewis won by legitimate stoppage. But A. It is as fair to debate that stoppage and the circumstances around it as any other stoppage that gets frequently debated B. It ignores the bigger picture, that the fight left a legitimate question of who the better h2h fighter was. Ali and Louis (and for that matter, Lewis against McCall and Rahman) lost much more definitive first fights, but were fortunate enough to get rematches that proved they were the superior fighters after all. Vitali never got that chance. And most importantly C it artificially defined not only an ATG great fight through a biased, demeaning phrase, but relegated all discussion of those two ATGs and their relation to each other to said biased, demeaning trash bin and phrase.

It was an embarrassingly bad move and the forum shouldn't be repeating similar mistakes by demeaning a potentially atg fight and two fighters that have a decent chance of becoming ATGs. If the internet and bs threads like this had been around in Ali's day, he never would have gotten the acclaim he has now.

 

Do you become an ATG because you were among the top of your era? Or do you become an ATG by being compared with other ATGs?

Because I can't see Fury or Wilder ever being an ATG, they are a joke to the art of boxing.

Never seen an ATG punch himself, and I never seen an ATG flail their arms around like Wilder.

 

Eye of the beholder really, but if you mean from a historical perspective yeah just being the best of an era makes you an ATG. People argue about Primo everyday.

 

You need a repository thread to even think of ATG status. Once it's over 150 pages the HOF awaits.
