Great post, but the only thing I have to say is, everything Roach says has a meaning and purpose. He wants Floyd to think they're worried about his style - Roach has a gameplan, he loves to get in people's heads, but people don't seem to notice it.

Everyone can see Floyd is technically more skilled than Pac. It doesn't take a "real boxing fan" to see this. Please stop thinking because you like PBF and choose him to win it makes you a better fan. What are you 12?

I love all these kids that pick a fighter that is known as "technically skilled", they become a bandwagon fan and start spouting "you don't know **** about boxing" etc, etc. Classic stuff. You are just fan nothing more.

That said, technical skill doesn't always win fights. But yeah, Mayweather winning is a very possible outcome. Wow it really takes a lot of knowledge to say that doesn't it? Riiight. Get out of here with that childish stuff.

Man I think FMJ will starch Manny, but we got to keep in mind that FMJ can come out the gates slow and get caught. He did it with Judah and Hatton. I hope FMJ stays crisp and silences all these fools!

This is a challenge for Pacquiao, not the other way around. *****s are so dumb they make the argument for Pacquiao. If this fight is so easy, why fight Pacquiao? If it is so easy then, Floyd should not get credit for this ****. We know Pacquiao will be at a stylistically bad match up versus Floyd, but he still took the damn fight. If it was Floyd, hed've done retired.

Mayweather long arms. He will keep Pacquiao on the outside. Popshot his ass all night long. Mayweather forces a stoppage.

    Great post Darryl. However....

    1. Roach said they needed more time for Mayweather's style because there's nobody in boxing right now with Mayweather's style. Actually if you think about it, Floyd doesn't have an outright style. He just boxes and adjusts accordingly throughout the fight. But with *most* of his opponents, he never had to adjust because his plan A worked out great from the beginning. (A great example of adjustment would be against Judah even though I thought Judah's lack of aggression contributed it.) I consider Roach honest here, and he knows that Floyd's style would be difficult for anyone.

    2. When you fight against someone who is fast like Pac, has the ability to throw bolo punches at weird angles, and able to throw punches while moving, I think any fighter will look like he's in quicksand in comparison to Pac's speed because they'll be busy covering their face. Now, will Mayweather look like he's in quicksand? Probably not, but I'm certain that he will be covering up often. If you watch Floyd's opponents, they all made the same mistake, they tried to box with Floyd and allowed Floyd to control the pace of the fight. Those who stuck with their styles usually did well in the beginning rounds but ultimately didn't have the stamina, intellect, and defense to be effective. A question for you. What fighter can imitate Pac as a sparring partner? hmmm I haven't thought of one yet. I know there are many partners that have the speed but not Pac's ability to throw combinations and move like him.

    3. As Floyd got older and moved up in weight, he lost a little speed, not alot, but noticeable if you compare him back when he fought in the 130s. Floyd's bread and butter now is to set traps according to how he evaluates his opponents in the first two or three rounds. A good example of this is his fight against Hatton. Floyd was setting that check lefthook trap in the corners all night long. In order to this, you have to essentially wait until the later rounds for your traps to work because you may have to adjust in the mid rounds. I am very confident that Roach, being a very intelligent trainer that he is, knows about Floyd's ability to set traps. And trust me, Floyd has a ton of bad habits too, which his opponents were often blind, stupid, or not quick enough to capitalize on.

    4. Your Cotto argument. Did it not come to your mind that Cotto simply has an excellent jab? He's a lefty turned orthodox, and usually lefty turned orthodox fighters have excellent jabs in addition to excellent left hooks. Cotto's dominant hand is his left. That's why I wasn't surprised to see Pac tagged with quick, snapping jabs from Cotto. Floyd's jab to the body is part of his ring intellect. In most of his fights, he'll jab to the body maybe once, have his opponent anticipate another jab to the body, then he'll feint leaving his opponent's right guard down and come in with a leaping left hook. Most of Floyd's straight rights are from lead rights without it following a jab.

Final thoughts. Don't count Pac out so quickly. Many "real" boxing fans, as you call it, still know it's too early to count Pac out. As of right now, I have Floyd edging over Pac mainly because of his reach advantage, assuming Floyd uses his jab to keep distance. On the other hand, I wonder how Floyd will do against the ropes with Pac's ability to throw 7 punch combinations at weird angles. Pac, unlike many of Floyd's opponents, has been trained to know when to cut the ring off and how.

I heard a lot of people claiming that Pac had not chance to be Oscar, Hatton and esp. not Cotto. Roach is psychic. Only a roach can survive a nuclear war!

Roach tried to get Void to fight Pac after the Hatton fight, but Void refused. So Pac fought Cotto, a fighter Void refused to fight. Void also refused to fight Margarito, and Mosely.

However, Void will have his judges, his referee, his venue, ring, commentators ( to tell you who is winning the fight), etc. Pac has to knock Void out to get a split decision.
