Somehow I don't think this fight will shut up the critics who have been calling for Manny to fight a slick, black American boxer.
I'm sure everyone here will watch it, regardless of whether it's the fight people want to see. I'll never miss a Pacquiao fight.
Ill probably watch it, but i dont agree with it. Bob Arum is a smart man, he is actually tricking the public in making people believe that Manny can do everything better than Floyd, At a point Manny does not even need to fight Floyd, because he is dimantling some of semi-threating fighters that Floyd fought , now im not saying that when Floyd fought them, they were legends, but they were just a tad bit fresher. Lets be truthfully about this i would say shane has between a 10-15% percent chance of beating Manny, and this is only because shane can still punch, other than that their is no reason why Manny should not dismantle, and (POSSIBLY BE THE FIRST TO KNOCK SHANE OUT). Thats why this fight is being made, and that will be another accomplishment in the Manny Paquaio story. People will buy into the story, because manny is a great fighter, he is all action, and people love the guy, he is very easy to market, especially against Floyd. Floyd is making it easy for Manny to reach the pinnacle of the sport, and he is doing this by not fighting Manny, and Arum and Roach are all over it!
I've got work in a minute. I'll put it in my favorites and read it when I comeback. I'm sure you make a lot of good points in there somewhere, but for me it's just as simple as saying, "I'm going to watch the fight because I love Boxing". The idea that the fight is a mismatch and Mosley doesn't deserve it is fair enough, but like I said before, some of the most dramatic and memorable fights in Boxing history were contested in so-called mismatches. Even if all of the members on the General boycott this fight, the fight will still sell, and it'll probably end up being a lot more competitive than you would think. I'm sure Hoya/Pacquiao recieved a lot of hostile reactions when it was signed too, who would have thought it'd launch Pacquiao into a whole new chapter and level of greatness than anyone thought possible. I don't mind these sort of fights because one punch is often the difference in winning and losing, and Mosley brings some things to the table. It's not like Marquez could hope to be any more competitive up at 147lbs.
Exactly. Never been a more cowardly ***git ***** than Pacquiao. ****s been cherry picking solidly since Marquez beat him the second time. Little pipsqueak **** Pacquiao wont ever take a fight he stands a chance of losing As for that "nothings certain in boxing" comment - what horse****. Pacquiao doesnt take a fight unless the outcome is certain
Addie dont worry about it man (I wanted to put in an emoticon to show it wasnt a serious 'um, ok' but the one I wanted wasnt on the main page and was too lazy to look for it, put it in now for context), I made a long post on something that is pretty clear cut. You deem the fight worth your money, and will pay to watch it. You like the fight enough to voice your opinion favorily over it. And that is 100% your right as a boxing fan to do so. I would be lying if I said I am not going to watch this fight, that right there pretty much speaks for itself. But I had to make a post regarding how I do feel as well. It sucks because I watch everything boxing, and will be watching this fight, and talking about it here and there as the fight is promoted. But at the same time I see it for what it is, and I find that a negative. So, idk. At the end of the day, it simply falls into one of those fights thats in between not being the best fight available, but it also isnt the worst. I will hope for better in the future, and the sport goes on. At the end of the day, its probably not as bad as being made out, but I still want to walk the line of keeping it in perspective and not just gushing over ever fight Arum puts Pac in while ignoring what boxing fans want to see. I leave your thread in peace and will stop being so negative about it :good
watch it is good pay for it is sad because you encourage them to make such horrible match ups and sell them as mega fights
As a Mosley fan I dont begrudge him one last big payday. Its no fault of his own that he couldnt get this fight earlier. For those reasons I have less interest in a Pac Berto fight to be honest. PBF is the only other fight out there, other than the eventual 140lb bossman. They could both take a while to sort out, so let mosley go for it.
not particularly disagreeing with you here, but I reckon the 140lb division should be left alone until we have a certified 140lb champ. I'd hate to see bradley/alexander/khan or maidana be prematurely destroyed by Pac and never recover from it. We'd be branding them as we do boxers like Pavlik (they say Hopkins ruined him, we'd be saying Pac ruined them should it transpire the same way). I'm not saying Pac would definately beat any of the top 140lb dogs, in fact fighting them right now would perhaps be the best thing next to him fighting May/Martinez. I'm just of the opinion that it'd be nice to milk the 140lb division for all it's got 1st (because it has an awful lot).
