Do you have article to back up your claim that Toney turned down Klitchko?

Aloy, you've been posting only 5 posts here and you're already making a fool of yourself. Back up your claims with some links or articles, hollow statements just won't do. Claiming That Toney ducked Gomez is just absurd. This is a James Toney appreciation thread, no place for haters here.

I remember Toney being mandatory for a title shot at Gomez as he was the number one in the WBC rankings. By the WBC rules, the champion (Gomez) has to fight his mandatory within a year. Instead Toney was then scheduled to face Gurov in a WBA eliminator for a title shot at Hill. Shortly after that Toney was dropped out of the WBC rankings

I think that Toney never really was that interested in a fight Gomez as he had to fight in Germany for a small purse. I think that it was a mainly a business decision from his promoter Dan Goosen as a fight against Hill in the States made more sense moneywise so i do not think Toney really ducked him. But he surely had the possibity to fight him.

I even remember Gomez speaking very highly of Toney in an interview and that he was looking forward for this fight.

Against? I think he has a lot of talent, but Gomez seems to give jack **** about what happens in his career. Every fight seems to be a step sideways rather than forward. 10 defenses in 3 years is better than I would have expected from him.

I dont think the Nunn fight is a good indication of his skills...he was actually losing the fight at the time it was stopped but he showed amazing abilities to grab victory from the jaws of defeat..if you want to see JT at his absolute best I would say pop in his fight vs Iran Barkley

Great recommendation, Ice. In fact - someone posted the Toney/Barkley fight on Youtube not too long ago. . .

I was just about to say people are forgetting the Barkley fight. JT in the super MW division was a ferocity--was thought to be many people's #1 pound4pound around that time.
LOL first thing that pops up in that video, 8TH TITLE FIGHT IN 21 MONTHS. That's just pure old skool.
