Agreed! I posted excuse #1 on another thread. It was Kov will need a KO to win the fight. I interrupted it as the judges are in Wards pocket but, now that I think of it, it could mean Kov will be way behind towards the end of the fight and will need a KO. LOL

 

I believe the boxer/puncher beats the boxer/spoiler in this case.
Ward has done sh_t all since his comeback and moving up and clearly refused to take any risks by chosing opponents that could possibly prepare him for what he's facing next. While Kovalev himself was fighting the who's who of the division himself with the exception of the pimp of course.

Ward is facing the most skilled and hardest hitting opponent he met up to date, and without the proper preperation. Kovalev is fighting the most skilled fighter he ever met of course, but that's a smaller step at this point.

I honestly don't see him losing anytime soon. Despite that, I like both fighters, Kovalev slightly more. I just hope to see a good fight. November is looking to be one of the best months in combat sports in years. We got the stacked UFC 205 card, Pacquaio-Vargas and Ward-Kovalev.

My head = Ward UD
My gut feeling = Ward UD

Kovalev is an incredibly strong fighter with stellar ring IQ, but he does not have the skills to beat Ward. If Ward is even a shadow of himself, I expect a clear Ward victory, but in a closer fight than Ward v Froch was. IMO a prime B-Hop would have also beat Kovalev.

Ward UD 12 (115-113), but I will root for Sergey.

Kovalev via 9th round TKO. If it goes to the cards, this one could be the classic disputed decision where one guy landed more and harder, but the other guy cleaner with better overall defense.

 

Just get the feeling that Ward will turn this into his fight, which means it wont be much of a spectacle and points win for Ward. However you can never rule out a massive puncher like Krusher ... will be more of an interesting fight than an exciting one.
