The official Kovalev vs Ward prediction thread....

Ward is a lot tougher and stronger than some people think. He will make Kovalev fight at the pace and range that he wants. Also, I still have questions about Kovalev's beard. Either late stoppage or UD for Ward.

 

I'm gonna say Ward will be up on points and will be spoiling a lot in the beginning. But after 7-8 rounds, Kov's few shots that he is actually landing will take the toll and he'll be able to establish himself more. Kov will be more patient and then around 10, he'll clip Ward with a solid, Chilemba-like, shot and will put Ward down. Only I don't think Ward will recover as much and Kov will get the TKO shortly after.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if Ward got a gift decision. That said, I want Kovalev to get the KO

 

Ward UD. Hopefully not an anticlimactic fight.

 

Ward UD, in the 8-4 range. He might get dropped or hurt once though.

I am a fan of both fighters. Well I was a fan of Ward until he decided to derail his career and if he wins he better not put the feather in his cap and go back to competing in BS bouts like after the Super Six. As for Kovalev whether he wins or loses he will still take on the best available opponents and hopefully a Stevenson fight can be made either way. Better late than never. LHW has alot of solid fighters floating around so I expect excitement from the division for the next 2-3 years at least.

 

ward ud, uses a lot of spoiling tactics , running holding and headbutts, but disrupts kovalev enough to get a close ud.

 

Boxing needs good judges for this fight. A robbery in the most significant fight boxing has would be horrible.

Here we have two undefeated men. Two fighters with contrasting styles. Two men highly ranked in the pound for pound rankings fighting each other in their prime in a division most fans care about. That happens maybe once every 5-10 years.

Kovalev by UD in a very boring fight where Ward runs, doesn't engage, just tries to 'survive' and stinks the joint out.

 

Yeah this is pretty much where I'm at, although with Ward's inactivity being a question mark,

I think it will be a split decision for Ward in an ugly affair, neither side really gets satisfaction and this board goes even further in the ditch for weeks/months afterward.
