haha god you scroll down the forum pages and there are so many threads on these two with people so certain that one is going to whip the other its hard to find any middle ground. WELL I KNOW I'M GONNA CATCH **** FOR THIS but I like both guys. nothing against either. i like watching both fight and they are both great fighters. two of the best right now and i can't wait for the fight. so looking at both fighter's recent bouts objectively...

Pac: has never fought at 140, let alone anyone over 130, with the strength of hatton (i would argue hatton will be stronger on may 2 than odlh was when he and pac fought) It took him 9 rounds of just absolutely pummeling diaz at 135 to finally put him down and 8 rounds of hitting odlh w/ everything but the ringpost at 147 to put him down despite odlh being a weight drained, $$ grubbing shell of what he once was.

Ricky: had to go the distance w/ lazcano, urango, and collazo. he got sent on a blind date with the ringpost by pbf, and after further review didnt look like the old ricky against pm. if pm had anything whatsoever on his punches, that fight may be a little bit different (i would argue that pac will). to his credit he caught jlc w/ a perfect body shot that woulda rocked anyone at 140

so having said all that...i have no idea how this fight on May 2 will turn out. pac has always fought lighter and many think ricky used to be better. i havent seen anything in pac in his fights above 130 that would make me bet the farm on him...and i havent seen anything in ricky from his past several fights that would make me bet the farm on him.

does anyone else see this fight as maybe a little too close to call given all the uncertainties???

    thoughts :huh:huh

I find it to be a close fight, but I think Ricky is a better pressure fighter than what Manny is of a slick boxer. The speed coming from the southpaw stance will bother Hatton, but if he can adjust, I think he wins.

The way I see this fight is really simple, Ricky has only one loss in his entire career and that was at the hands of the best fighter there is out there. Not exactly a bad loss.

Now sure Manny lost to a shot Morales, but people over rate his wins too much. Manny could have lost to JMM (both times actually both fights were that close)
I don't buy the hype of beating David Diaz - his only win of note was against a washed up Morales and even thought was reasonably close.
I don't buy the hype of beating Oscar. Oscar's inactivity and age had hurt him. Remember - DLH only had 3 wins in the past 5 years when he fought Manny.
And those wins? Sturm (lost), Mayorga (so?) and Stevie Forbes (big deal)

Point is Manny has looked like a force based on good matchmaking

ive said in other threads i could see ricky being too much for pac...but i just can't bring myself to say i'd put $ on it or anything like that.

This is gonna be a great fight. Originally I picked Pacquiao but the more I've thought about it I think Hatton's size and physicality in the ring at 140 will be too much for Pacquiao to handle.

I believe Pacquiao will win the early rounds with Hatton taking over in the second half of the fight and wearing Pacman down and stopping him in the 10th.

the outcome of this fight is going to depend on who the referee is and what he allows.

Hatton i believe may win but both will have the moments in the fight i just believe hatton is big at 140 and i just think he will have too much as pac hasn't fought anyone who his primed at that weight.

Its a tough one to call. I have made quite a few long posts on this before so can't be arsed going into it again but i think it basically comes down to how well Pac can handle a punch (or more importantly many punchers over several rounds) from a natural 140 pounder. The Diaz and DLH fights taught us nothing about this as Diaz was to slow and not good enough to touch Pac and DLH was to ****ed. Ricky will hit Pac and will hit him relatively often. If Pac can handle this he wins. If he can't he loses.

I really think this is Pac's toughest fight since Nedal Hussein. (yeah he fought JMM twice but in no way were they physically tough from that point of view)

Pac is in for a surprise especially at 140 if Hatton is able to get his way. Seriously, 140 and up is Hatton's territory.

I honestly hope Pac is able to pound Hatton's face into submission in the early rounds. He's got to be careful so the fight won't stop on cuts. The David Diaz fight should have been stopped on cuts in the 3rd round.

I'm lookin for Pac to turn it up a notch after the 5th round so there won't be any controversy.

ricky will have a hard time with pac's speed, movement, activity and sharp/accurate punching. if ricky manages to get inside (very hard), do some holding to use his strength, lay his weight against pac and land some of those body punches, then he has a decent chance to win.

You maybe correct in your analysis because hatton does cut but I can see hatton getting to grips in the middle rounds. I believe this fight will be won in the middle rounds for either fighter whether hattons bullishness at that weight will win or pac speed will decide the fight. Whatever happens it will be a explosive fight.
