I wanna see Mago fight Szpilka. It wouldn't be pretty, it wouldn't be a shining example of the sweet science, but imagine the carnage!
New photos of Magomed training, he looks to be in very good shape: http://www.allboxing.ru/fotolenta/archive/2013-02-20_03_03.html
Mago is scheduled to fight some guy named Victor Brisbal on March 8th. Never heard of him, but he's 21-1. OK, against bums like Zack Page & Matt Green, but still.... Anyone know anything about Brisbal? Is this just a stay-busy fight, or will it show us anything about Mago?
He looked like **** i'm afraid. I wouldn't say he was panicking, but he definitely seemed uncertain trying to get that situation under control. His face looked like **** at the end.
If anyone looked dismal it was Mago for 3 rounds,he was being tagged at will ...put him in with a fighter that doesn't gas in 4 rounds(and has a good work rate)and he'll be in deep, deep **** ... he has nice power though.
I think he gassed more than anything else. You could see him lose control as he started to draw deep breaths. But I did not care for the snatch in Abdusalamov's punches up until that point, at all.
Fun ride, while it lasts... EDIT; There was a front page article yesterday claiming that tonight's winner(Mago) was going to be in a four man tourny with other regional WBC champs.
Mago looked like dung tonight. The small hope I had of him actually improving his skills and becoming a serious force in the HW division, are officially smashed. Done. Packed away in a dark, dingy corner of some warehouse, never to be seen again.
Has natural power and speed but just isn't strong or big enough to go all the way. I like watching him though.
It's been fun but the fun won't last. He's lacking in so many departments but hey he knocks guys out I'm going to enjoy him before his inevitable schooling when he steps up.
