Hagler is my ATF (all time favorite). He is THE DEFINITION of a boxer. Arguably the best chin ever to boot. Awesome thread

I know. And that tells you how much this meant to him. I can't help but see the similarities between him and Hopkins. Both guys earned their way to the top. Both guys were gym rats and had the disciplined to stay at one weight class for years. And both guys attached their identity to "Middle Weight Champion of the World". That meant everything to them. That was their identity. Both guys are throwbacks.

i agree hopkins went the hard road as well as hagler. i always thought they were a lot alike.

only hagler was a little more exciting to watch

I voted Hagler/Mugabi as my favorite "rare gem" fight in a thread a while back. What a great fight. Here is my favorite tribute:

Hagler had one of the best jabbing exhibitions I've ever seen, against Tony Sibson (he also jabbed the **** out of Hamsho and Mugabi among others). I'm not too much of a Hagler fan, but he was one great fighter. Very versatile, a complete prize fighter.

Hagler is the greatest boxer/fighter/warrior/champion ever.

Much respect to everyone in this thread who recognizes that. :smoke
