He beats him. Bernard will have to fight him...he can't win the way he got robbed in the JT fight. He'd have to fight like he did Trinidad or Joppy. He couldn't just try to beat him, he'd have to try to bury him...which as much as I like Bernard, I must admit he wouldn't pull off.

If he tried any of the holding ****, Marvelous will murder him to the body, create space and throw vicioius combos.

When Marvin Haglar elected to fight Mustafo Hamsho in only his 3rd title defense, I thought he had lost his freaking mind. When he won by TKO in a rather one-sided 11 rounds, i pretty much knew we were looking at a great, great champion.

As for the SRL fight, for years I thought it was a robbery. However, I watched it recently on Ringside Classics, and came away feeling that Ray won. Haglar screwed up and gave away the first 4 rounds.

I have a freind who is in is 80's and a life long boxing fan. He actually saw Robinson fight live several times. According to him Haglar/Robinson would be a candidate for fight of the decade in any decade. That's pretty high praise coming from a guy who watched Sugar Ray Robinson at ringside!

Hopkins would probably hold the slight inside edge. On the outside, Hagler's jab is th ebest weapon of the two, though Hopkins has a great straight right, good for southpaws. Interesting matchup, pretty much a legit 50/50 fight.

Anyways, Hagler was awesome in his prime, a great boxer, so much more than the brawler he became late due to his diminishing athleticism by that time. Great counter-puncher with very good accuracy, underrated movement and slipping skills, punch placement, and killer instinct.

He was not robbed on my cards against Leonard though.

Hopkins in an ugly one where everyone on ESB argues about the result for a bout a year.

Haglar was fantastic. First time I saw him was fight #1 against Vito A. People scream that Haglar was ripped off, I thought Haglar should have got the edge but it was a great fight. Seems like the outcome of that fight launched Haglar to a different level as a boxer, can't give the ref. any wiggle room so I'll just have to destroy my opponents. He really did slow down toward the end of his career, and that fight against Mugabi showed. Leonard chose Haglar @ the perfect time and Haglar threw away the first couple rounds by boxing conventional stance. I do not think it was a bad decision with Leonard winning, I had it a draw, but Haglar could have won if he chose to fight a more Marvin Haglar stratedgy

He did run the dunns. My father Frank "Tiger" Moore was Hagler's sparing partner during that time. My father is from the Turks and Caicos and helped train Hagler in the sand in Provincetown. My father could be seen running backwards for miles on the beach being "mistaken" for Hagler. When my father fought in the islands he trained on the beach and taught Hagler the same technique.

My father is Frank "Tiger" Moore and was Hagler's sparring partner during his career. The story about Hagler training and running in the dunns is true. My father's early boxing career began on Grand Turks Island (Turks and Caicos). My father brought the technique of training in boots in the sand here and used that same technique with Hagler to prepare him for fights. Tiger Moore could be seen running "backwards" along the beach for miles. Many people mistook him for Hagler and the stories about the backwards running was not Hagler, it was Tiger Moore. The story about Tiger Moore "stunning" Hagler has been told in many gyms. Not only did Tiger Moore "stun" Hagler with a left but, he actually knocked him down. The Petronelli's claimed the mat was wet which was untrue. There were witnesses :)

Marvin Hagler made the MWD most interesting when he was the Undisputed World MW Champ. at this weight class. Hopkins tried to do the same but not as great as Hagler did.
