    Wait and see.
Give it a week or two, or a month or two.
You'll be surprised what people will want.
    Pacquiao's following is huge.

Look, Mayweather's going to continue fighting. He says one fight, I suspect he'll end up going for two more fights at least.

Since all his fights basically look the same, what makes you think people wont want to see him against Pacquiao again ?

    I probably wouldn't buy it.
But then I'm not watching Mayweather vs anyone again, unless he fights Golovkin or someone like that, which wont happen.

Yes, but Mayweather's loving all this too. He's probably in on all of it.
This is planting the seed for the rematch.
Watch them all pull the suckers in for one more go !

    Everyone's laughing to the bank.

Floyd doesn't knock people out because he wants to entertain the masses. He wants people to witness his magnificence for the maximum time possible.

    There's fault on both sides.
    Pac had an off night.
Mayweather did the absolute minimum he could.

This was a fight that could have turned a lot of casuals into fans, but this fight did more harm than good for the sport of boxing. This fight was in the spotlight for the whole world to see and these two supposedly best fighters of our generation put on one of the biggest let downs ever. Perfect example of over-promising and under-delivering. Can't wait til Floyd retires, the sport will be better off without him. Even Wlad fell asleep.

    Might be true

But Pac ain't getting 40-60 this time, it will be 20-80.

I certainly don't want to see a rematch, it was a complete schooling the 1st time around.

Pac has eaten the same right hand from marquez for 4 fights even marquez said the one that knocked him out was perfect timing and he fell into it.

MVC, good post, but I thought he claimed only the right hand/arm/shoulder was 60% ready for the fight, rather than his whole self?

Fully agree, for all the talk of Floyds masterful boxing skills we don't ever actually see it, he never boxes himself out of a situation, Whittaker would make people look silly and stay in the pocket while tagging them too.

First off I wasn’t disappointed with the fight. I found it absorbing until the last 3 rounds or so when Mayweather seemed to be in full control, until then I felt it was possible that Pacquiao could have success with one of those rushes, but towards the end it was clear he was tiring and running out of ideas. They were both switched on and alert throughout. Maybe because of that the fight had a tepid feel about it, a Maywether win that wasn’t emphatic but one where he controlled his opponent, it reminded me a bit of the De La Hoya fight, he won it clearly but it didn’t have that empathetic feel (i guess like a lot of his fights).

I think the pressure of this fight spooked both fighters in a big way, its too long to be watching each others success the last five years and not to feel ridiculous pressure when actually meeting, even though Pac had lost betwenn. Pac seemed more effected that people realised, he was clearly being careful and didn’t want to get knocked out in the “biggest fight of the century”. Its one of those fights that if something dramatic happened, positive or negative it would be remembered for all time. As it was not much will be remembered, Maywether controlled and Pacquio couldn’t get into his stride because of this, as things go they are probably satisfied with that rather than the alternative of one being at the receiving end of a KO or dominant loss. Of course the fans would like to have witnessed more drama but this is modern boxing, playing it safe.

You could see the respect they had for each other as fighters. Some are saying it was easy for Maywether but it didn’t look that way to me. He was switched on every split second of this fight and he appeared not so much scared but understanding of how dangerous Pac is if you let him land with those rushes. He looked worried until the last few rounds when he started to get that swagger back. In a 15 round fight he probably would have started to show boat with Pac a bit as it was clear he gained control, a longer fight would probably have equalled a more empathetic with for Mayweather.

I think Pacquiao did better than most people think to be honest. It was a more intelligent approach to his aggression, he was being very careful with it, and I don’t think he had much other choice, his reflexes were very good. He could have taken more risks as most are saying but he was just not willing to lose this fight badly, it was too big an event. I think that fact marred his performance a bit. Added to the fact that Floyd is so good, and he was this night, every sense was switched on because of his respect for Pac, this made him very hard to get hold of. Maywether’s fear or anxiety made him more of a fortress than the withering wreck some people thought he was going to be.

So there you have it, the styles didn’t mix that well which was expected, Floyd proved he was a defensive master that could even control his greatest threat. People that expected more from this fight are disappointed but the real fans probably knew this is how it would end up, a tense affair basically. I think they left it too long when it comes down to it, too much pressure, too much at stake and a little out of their prime.
