Agreed although with retrospect isn't that automatically true for every fighter who wins despite being the underdog?

Doesn't matter. Floyd is held to a higher standard to the point if he gets a bloody nose, it's almost the equivalent of Pac getting knocked down. If you think Pac even feeling less pressured is going to help him in a fight of this magnitude in boxing of all sports, you're foolish. Manny and you fans think Manny is fine losing and there's no effects. This isn't american idol where there's no real loser. Manny will not be relevant at all and his poor PPv sales will be even poorer if he gets beat or even worse, embarrassed.

Ive enoyed pacquiao being the underdog but it was usually just size that did it, stepping up in weight ppl thinking its one step too far considering his fighting style.

But this time he is underdog not because of any of that. This time hes up against the slickest boxer on the planet and no exta determinain or focus is gu a change the fact hes in with a better boxer. Im begging for a pacman win but i just cant see it.

Not really. Pacquiao made his mark in the sport showing up extremely motivated and dangerous when he's the underdog. Even when he lost to Morales in the first fight he made an unforgettable mark in that one. As a favorite Pacquiao usually shows up his usual expected self and has been very cold in his recent fights, except for the fourth Marquez fight where even though he was the favorite, he showed up as if he was the underdog simply because of the outcries of "robbery" after their third fight which gave him an underdog's perspective heading into that fight. Even though he got caught reckless and lost, he battered Marquez like no one ever has in Marquez' entire career.

Take Hopkins for example, even when he's the underdog or favorite, he always shows up and performs exactly the same. Pacquiao on the other hand shows fire and motivation in there like none other when he's generally overlooked and expected to lose. Another great fighter who always shows up exactly the same whether he's the favorite or underdog is Hagler. Leonard on the other hand, was more like Pacquiao. He's more motivated when he's completely overlooked and proves it with a different/extraordinary performance.

Yes and no, for me... Good example with Hopkins.

"battered Marquez like no one ever has in Marquez's entire career" ...I hate when people imply that. It lasted for half of a scheduled fight with the first two rounds being somewhat ordinary and even and the third round being all Marquez. Through 3 rounds, there was no battering going on whatsoever other than Marquez dropping Pac with the huge right... Pac dropped Marquez with one of the weaker big shots in the fight (quick and unsuspecting; same with Kats, Alvarado, and Floyd KD's on JMM) and he wasn't visibly hurt by it. So all the epic "battering" happened in rounds 4, 5, and 6; three rounds total with round 4 not being a "battering" other than being 10-8 Pac... I just didn't see it that way. Was it a two sided war? Absolute classic of one. Was he bloodied? Yes. But we've seen that all before with JMM. See: Diaz I and Mayweather fights.

    Either way, good post Scar.

But that was clearly not Diego anywhere near his best he clearly was not there mentally for that fight, the best version of Chico Floyd moved up in weight faster than a Asian table tennis player to avoid him....
