Pacquiao beating Mayweather wouldn't be shocking at all but it certainly doesn't mean Mayweather was never that good. Mayweather has been a really really good all around fighter. No-one is unbeatable though.

Floyd's philosophy has been not to get hit and he's done a good job at it. Given his speed and athleticism, it has been difficult to hit him and if you can't hit him, you can't beat him. Having said this, he has won many fights doing barely anything. Canelo and Maidana fights are perfect examples. How many times did he engage Canelo? not often and how many times did he hurt Canelo? never really. Same goes with two Maidana fights. His fights are at times uneventful, almost nothing happens. He wins because he is able to hit his opponent more than he gets hit and also makes opponents look like they lack resources. Floyd cn win a fight by simply making opponent look slow and stupid, without landing any significant punch at all. I have issue with this as i don't regard it real fighting BUT i cannot blame floyd for employing a strategy that allows him to win and not get hit often, the latter should be a boxers #1 priority.

i think Pacquiao has too much speed with feet and hands to allow Floyd to make him look slow or look like he lacks resources. Floyd will need to fight in this one and i think he will lose. It doesn't mean he was never that good, just means Pacquiao is an elite and he has a style that is very problematic for floyd.

Yes the argument can then be made that Floyd was overrated.

Certainly still a HOF but maybe not an ATG. It all depends on hwo he loses, if he gets dominated, if he runs etc

it will be a shock especially if pac stops mayweather the guy has never been knocked down properly before him to be badly beaten would be a shock by many people

Mayweather is a HOF fighter no doubt but I could see him being embarrassed

Maybe it is time for Floyd to lose. He has annoyed everybody with his attitude being TBE.

No, and that's stupid. Comments like this just devalues a Pac win. Why would you discredit a Pacquiao victory?

Not that I'm comparing these fighters to Mayweather before anybody jumps on me...

Sugar Ray Robinson was 40-0 and lost to Jake LaMotta, did that prove Robinson was "never that good"

Ali was 31-0 when he lost to Frazier, did that prove Ali was "never that good"

What I'm trying to say is great fighters get beat, I don't believe you can ignore the rest of somebody's achievements because of a defeat.
I still think Pacquiao is a great fighter but he has beaten. When you stick two great fighters in the ring one of them is going to lose... Unless it a draw, some smart f***er would have pointed that out lol

And let me guess...even if he beats Pac, you'll make up some excuse about how Pac was way past his best and wasnt really a test for Flyd anyway..

    Am I right?

difference is those guys fought legit fighters Mayweather has never fought a legit fighter

Mayweather has been cherry picking all his career guys the ones you mentioned fought the best so if they lost it was not a big deal

Mayweather has won titles from 130 lbs to 154 lbs winning multiple ring and lineal titles in the process as well as beating many fighters who have held world titles if Pacquaio is considered his first challenge after all that surely you must thing he is that good if multiple world champs and a few p4p rated fighters aren't challenges.

I did say "I'm not comparing" before anybody jumped on me.

I was trying to make the point that great fighters get beat. Mayweather and Pacquiao are the greatest fighters of this era and one is going to lose.
If Pacquiao loses I still think he is a great fighter, same with Mayweather, we are talking multi weight world champions who between them have beaten the best fighters in their era, apart from each other.

I will not abuse the loser, I will not dismiss all their achievements because of a defeat, whoever it is.

It would expose how overrated Mayweather is, absolutely. Most great fighters lose but defeat for a fighter whose whole gimmick is based on being undefeated would be utterly devastating to his reputation.

He's not overrated. Nobody is claiming he's the GOAT.
