Floyd adapts and can also use the high guard defense (like Winky Wright) if he figures the shoulder roll does not work he will adapt. Watch Floyd vs Mosley to see what I'm talking about

    High guard against southpaws.

But the shoulder roll worked just fine for Berto v Guerrero so we'll see

i never said its the only thing he has, but that is his main strength, and before the opening bell has even rung Mayweather already has to adapt his style and change his stance, he is 38 years old and hasnt had to deal with speed for 9 years! now he is coming up against a guy with fast hand, fast feet, power, unusual angles and plenty of movement, all that and he cant use his greatest strength to nullify Pacquiao's threat!

people keep saying Mayweather will adapt to Pacquiao and take comtrol of the fight, but the fact is he has never seen this style before, and if it takes him 4 or 5 rounds to adapt to slow flat footed fighters who come in straight lines it will take him at least double that to fully adapt to Pacquiao by then it will be too late for him.

nothhing hard to adapt to pacquiao

pacquiao does come in straight lines. did you see how he got knocked out?

pacquiao knocked down marquez 3 times in the first round then marquez adapted and beat him up.

    pacquiao is predictable.

mayweather by KO under 10 rounds. ez fight.

you do realise Mayweather and Pacquiao are both different fighters now? Pacquiao is a lot smarter and less reckless, Mayweather is slower and his legs gets fatigued a lot quicker, which is why he has to take rests on the ropes, he has avoided speed for 9 years for a reason.

Mayweather-Judah is another good example. High guard, bombing the body and walking his man down. If he fights Pac that way we'll see some excitement!

FLoyd Mayweather is an extremely versatile fighter that can fight in many different ways.

He doesn't employ the shoulder roll 100% of the time in a fight. He sometimes leaves his hands completely down and baits opponents into jumping in on him. Also, when he decides to cut the ring off on his opponents, he'll go into a high guard stance and walk them down. Neither of these styles have him in a shoulder roll position.

My point is, he's a master technician and a chameleon inside that ring. He finds out what works effectively for him against an opponent, and milks it until the well runs dry. He has many ways to fight, and beat, Manny Pacquiao.

mayweather doesnt have to use his legs in this fight

pacquiao cant cut the ring off or get in range

mayweather can just sit there and pot shot and jab that midgets head

you said yourself he's smarter? how so? he got knocked out, knocked down vs marquez. how is that smarter? :hi:

He doesn't fully rely on the shoulder roll and is regularly switching and changing in there to confuse his opponent. Sometimes he would intentionally use the shoulder roll to predict his opponent's punch to counter accordingly. If you watch properly, it's amazing how much of a fast thinker Mayweather is in there.
