superstars keep the sport alive to the masses not some regular fights between two brawlers no matter how good the fight is it's not keeping the sport alive is nobody is watching....

cards are watched by the masses when a superstar is fighting and right now boxing doesnt have many of those.. the only mexican you can maybe call superstar is juanma marquez and that's stretching it

floyg brings the masses when he fights a good fighter like ortiz just like pacaquiao and martinez fighting anybody the klits brothers vs solis and haye were watched by normal fans

the rest of the cards are only watched by fans of boxing and regional fans ie mexicans watching mexicans..

here in PR we have great cards every friday i could say the same **** we're keeping the sport alive

PCane I think what TS is sayin is that Mexican boxing is a big part of the sport at different levels and their warrior mentality is much appreciated because you know your getting an action packed fight. From veterans who were supposed to be stepping stones like Rubio and Salido to legends the Marquez bros and Morales to new faces Molina, Mares, Segura, and Canelo they know what is expected from them win or lose because Mexi fans are abit demanding. Even Ortiz grew a set and Rios being Mexi American could fool you thinking hes a straight up Mexican brawler. All these guys made big news and created huge upsets. They made boxing alittle less predictable.

 

How many were FOTY? besides Vazquez juanma getting their buts kicked.. and being the victim is not something a PR should admire.

no it doesnt, what makes a sport big is when it's watched by the masses not just the avid boxing fan... most people that post in ESB are crazy fans that will watch the sport whenever they can on friday night fights on ESPN or any other card on tv...

but big fights is what makes the sport mainstream and no matter how bad the card ends up being it gives the sport a lot of exposure...

the DLH vs tito fight was a disappointment for many fans but stll that event was big and tito and dlh kept participating in big cards afterwards and the stars kept coming

when was the last time you saw a card where the public was filled with superstar actors and entertainment people.. is been a while because the sport lacks that superstar boxer... all we have is pacquiao and to say that is sad.. floyd could be but he doesnt want to and prefers to fight low level fighters that wont test him and he'll still make some money and can keep calling himself the GOAT

you keep missing the point die hard fans will be die hard fans no matter what, boxing is a sport that some people are born loving it like most hispanic countries but when a boxer comes along that makes the casual fan turn in and watch that's what makes the sport mainstream..

and if some people are turn away by a bad fight they're just that casual fans not real fans.....

you saying that because some people are watching a friday night fights card at a local bar between mexicans that you guys are keeping the sport alive..

i say you're wrong because those kind of cards will always exist the big cards are the thing that is missing from the sport the big superstar like a roy jones, DLH, trinidad, tyson until we find that star the sport will stay down and only the die hard fans will keep watching

Some of my favorite fighters are Mexican. So I can only give props. I actually prefer the more skillful than the balls to the wall Mexican cliche' type.

i would love for the promoters and fighters to start making big cards and forget this protecting fighters ****... juanma shouldve fought gamboa and caballero a long time ago now he lost and has to regain his status...

just like gamboa shouldve fought caballero there are so many big fights that can be made that will give the sport a big boost but fighters dont like to challenge themselves anymore they just care about that zero in their record and about making money

just like promoters dont care about the sport or fans and only care to protect their fighters hype them up and make money

pac vs floyd, khan vs bradley, there are plenty of good fights to be made but we're stuck with fighters running from eachother and too many ****ing belts around for fighters that dont deserve them
