Last night it was both humbling and touching to see Nick Charles call his last ever fight on live television. He is battling stage 4 bladder cancer, which is terminal and the result is grim, but last night he stood there as ever for one last night to pay homage to the sport he loves so much. Nick wont likely be around to see the next generation of boxers coming up, but he will always be a part of boxing. Past, present, and future. God Bless Nick Charles.

Does anybody know how we can get messages to Nick?

My girl actually suggested it after she came across me pretty devastated by this.

He seemed overjoyed to be ringside one more time, and clearly has a huge passion for the sport. A flood of well-wishes and expressions of gratitude from fellow fans might be a nice surprise as well.

He doesn't seem to have a Facebook or Twitter or anything like that (he is after all an old-school seeming guy in his sixties). I know a lot of industry types read the board. Anyone know how we can send our thoughts? Time is short..

Id like to know how to get these messsages to him too IB. Hopefully someone he know is reading this and can pass it on. Also, absolutely the people at HBO really did show a big heart and didnt let business get in the way of doing the right thing. Much respect to those guys.

I dont know for sure what the deal is with Showtime, and I dont want to demonize them just yet, but if they intentionally didnt put him on knowing he wanted to be then yes shame on them.

Nick's a great guy...you have to feel for him, knowing his 5 yr old daughter will not have a father most of her life....

He's great; a real joyful exuberant man even when facing such a grim and dreadful illness. Last night was both touching and moving. Great thread for a real class guy.
