Canelo did a very good job against Cotto. I wanted Miguel to win, but I was never convinced he would be able to overcome Alvarez.

Good for you:good At least you manned up unlike a lot of posters on this site. And kudos for seeing it clearly as opposed to the other posters who went to excuse making mode the moment the final bell rang.

I had predicted a ko of Cotto by Canelo, but instead saw IMO Cotto outbox Canelo to win a close decision. So I give props to Cotto AND after hearing Alvarez back off his bravado saying he'd fight GGG "right now" but changing it to "well GGG has to come in under 155 I officially rename him Pollo Tropical Alvarez.

The instructions by coach Roach, who Cotto fans swore up and down made Cotto a "much better fighter" were to double up the jab and work the body.
The problem was that Canelo's jab was much heavier, and when Cotto bent over to hit the body, Canelo would straighten him up with hard and accurate uppercuts.

With Canelo getting the better of center ring boxing, Cotto tried his hand and taking the fight to Canelo. Canelo promptly had his best round and battered Cotto up and down with jabs, hooks, and ujppercuts.
I thought at that point it was the beginning of the end for Miguel Cotto.
Cotto then chose to play it safe and punch and judy from the outside using lots of lateral movement. This found Canelo chasing but still getting in his one two's with effectiveness where as Cotto wasn't putting a dent on Canelo.

Game, set, and match. Cotto to his credit went about and tried different avenues, but he just wasn't good or strong enough to beat Canelo Alvarez on the night.

Its really not hard at all to comprehend why Cotto wasn't able to do more if you just let go of the nationalistic pride that comes with matchups that are Mexico vs Puerto Rico.

Where's the "props and no excuses".

You're just admitting to something that happened but not really giving Canelo his dues. Sounds more like you're making excuses for why Cotto did not win.

How about some proper props like, Canelo was the better man.:deal

Just got back from Vegas (unlike some mofos here who act like they are hardcore boxing fans BUT can't put $500 together to go see a fight live cough cough JM22), and I will say this Canelo did an excellent job and I give him mad props. However, the fight was closer than 118-111, I had it 7-5 Canelo or even 7-5 Cotto, the fight could had gone either way. Canelo was landng the hard punches but Cotto landed more combos...Anyways all in all it was great night for boxing and I enjoyed it....
