So, it's looking to be a pretty good season IMO, FX are still finding their feet with the production but I liked the fact it was more geared towards training than drama, although I'm almost certain that's because there's little friction thus far, bar the fella's Pa' passing away and Cruz and Faber having a *****. So, Daron Cruickshank, who looked rounded and seemed to have an awkward style, got sparked by a knee by the, ahem, 'Golden Gloves boxer' who's shown no punching ability so far He's a gangly freak, and the knee was a shocker and very dramatic stuff. Then, Cruz confidently picks top class BJJ black belt Marcello, another one of the early favourites, to fight ****** Lawrence, another one of the early standouts. We have the final in the third week of the show. Thoughts? Very intriguing matchup IMO. The most experienced grappler (and with Chute Box Muay Thai) versus the young and gifted speedster who trains with Black House! Intriguing stuff.
Again? Dunno', I watched it last night. I just realised there wasn't a thread to discuss it, and as we're stuck with only this and Bellator for the next few weeks, thought I'd start something up so we can talk **** about it Okay, it's a little late but I felt now was the time ;-)
Yeah I know what you mean, that's why I started the thread so I can watch some fights on youtube to fill the void
In every season there´s one coach who is just much better at what at does and in this one it´s Cruz. Faber´s team will probably lose the next 1-2 fights until he finally wins one. Usually you don´t know who´s the most talented fighter until the end of the season, there´s is most of the time an underdog who is much better than you thought he would be (even Rashad was the underdog in most of his fights at TUF becuase of his size)
What just because of that?! He looked less than stellar last time out as well, against the gaylord. He has size but looks green still to me, though the knee was sick (and against a guy who looked one of the best based on last week) I think the winner of next weeks fight should be the favourite. Lawrence might just be too fast for Marcello, but the Brazilian has the size advantage and probably has the most ridiculous Jits in TUF history, he's very accomplished. Looked game but open on the feet though, so I wouldn't be surprised if Lawrence's extra speed sees him blitz Marcello. The homeless guy who lost his Dad, is he the guy who trains with Cody McKenzie? Expect sick subs with no defence or stand up from him then.
Yeah Marcello vs Lawrence should tell us who the best fighter in the house is. I like Vick's chances though, he's the tallest fighter in the house and he showed in the Cochrane fight that he can handle a good grappler. It wasn't his best fight but for a boxer he showed some solid takedown defense.
Picks for tonight gents? I think the very early going of Marcello's fight to get in the house showed weaknesses in his striking defence. It's either Lawrence early, or Marcello braving it, getting him down and working from there. I'm going for a tentative pick of Lawrence KO1. Rooting for the Brazilian though
