Yep, Meldrick was a beast, he was putting guys like Sweet Pea in the shadow and was on track to be a true star. It's a shame how it all ended, just too much heart for his own good.

McGirt wasn't bad either, a very good technician who gave Pernell a lot of problems especially in that first fight. He had a cronic shoulder problem though, which hampered his career.

That era is stacked with very good, underrated technicians, people like McGirt, Simon Brown, Sumbu Kalambay, Frankie Randall etc.

Just watched Ady Lewis vs Peter Culshaw. Lewis = legend! :yep

Also Geoff McCreesh vs Paul Ryan. Ryan was all over the place in the 2nd - how he didn't actually touch down I will never know.

 

As others have predicted, I'm going with Ward on points, although from the tournament's perspective, it'd be good to see Green win to open up the competition

 

Yeah, one of his best punches and he was unable to throw it most of the time. It was fascinating though the way he was able to draw Whitaker's lead and counter punch him. Btw i always thought Pernell's weakness was that straight right down the pipe.

Oh and just remembered i forgot to add Marlon Starling to that list, perhaps the most underrated of the lot.
