Goat HW. The guy literally had multiple deathmatches. Boxed his heart out until he's permanently disabled. Ali gave his all to the sport.

Greatness isnt defined by one fight

Its defined by the legacy you leave behind.

Ali consistantly beat better oposition than Tyson and did so for a much longer period of time, in spite of all the troubles he had out of the ring.

They were both out for 3 years. And Ali was still stronger.

That must mean something when defining greatness?

What you are getting at is that you think H2H 1988 Tyson beats Ali, which you are entitled to think.

But that dosnt make him greater because he didnt accomplish nearly as much as Ali.

I know, I just think in his prime, or should I say in his prime and on form, he was better than anyone else in their prime on form. Unfortunately life isn't black and white and Tyson unravelled very rapidly.

If you go back as far as the first Bruno fight he was missing a lot, head movement wasn't right, Tyson had an abnormal life in all sorts of ways so it's no surprise his career wasn't all roses.

Boxing was like an exorcism for him, he was never gonna be a long standing fighter, he was like a meteor, burned brightly and intensely then inevitably crashed and exploded.

Comes back to the definition I guess, mine is different to yours. I guess it's all relative anyway, it's all opinion based.

    Depending "which" greater.
H2H prime vs prime, Ali is not the GOAT.
    His resume is wonderful, yes.

H2H prime vs prime is fictional, its not real life.

You cant rank someone on fictional achievements.

You rank someone on what they where able to achieve once their career is all said and done.

In that case Vitali is ****ed.

People rank Vitali as an ATG based on his h2h powers a lot. If you wanna only judge by Resume, Vitali is barely hall of fame, much less ATG.

If we're talking accomplishments Tyson doesn't do badly there either, youngest HW champ in history, incredible run of early KOs, unified champ, two time champ, one of the most influential fighters of all time, most intimidating fighter of all time, probably the most exciting fighter of all time.

His resume gets knocked but he fought some good opposition, tough opponents, many had never tasted the canvas til they met him. They were good, he just made them look bad.

I prefer h2h because it is more useful to compare fighters how they would do in other eras.
Also h2h power is not fictional it is a subject of debate.

I'm still unclear as to what Ali's out of ring 'achievements' were.
