My opinion on a fight between Prime Ali - Prime Tyson

If based on atributes alone Tyson has a good chance of winning.

But, Ali would have got well into Tysons head in the build up. Would of made him go crazy.

Tyson would start the fight all seek and destroy. Ali is too evasive and Tyson would tire. Ali would start to dominate as Tyson ran out of gas. Ali would end up knocking him out.

Remeber Ali was doing 15 rounders, lasting all that time while tyson would be struggling come the 10th or 11th round.

If they fought in a 12 rounder its advantage Ali as he could operate at a higher workrate. In a 15 rounder it is impossible for Tyson to last till the final bell.

Other guys tried getting into his head in his prime and were annihilated brutally.

I never saw Tyson even marginally slow his workrate down in his prime, check all his distance fights, he would be fresh as a daily in round 12.

Ali never faced anyone like Tyson, people make comparisons to Frazier but Tyson was like Frazier speeded up x4, with better defence and combination punching, yet there was nothing between Frazier and Ali, they were about the same.

    Tyson late stoppage!

People seem to talk about the rest of Tyson's career as if it wasn't the real him, or it wasn't his fault. He was very good at his best but his short time at the top was largely self-inflicted: he didn't train for the Douglas fight, was being knocked down in sparring, then jeoprodised his career with the addictions, prison business, etc. That to me when measuring greatness goes down as a lack of dedication. Also, people seem to under-rate Ali's dedication. He trained hard and was around at the highest level excelling for a long period of time. That is one aspect of what measures greatness in my opinion: dedication and application.

Head to heads, while they can be fun, are fictional. For example, Tyson studied the great boxers incl. Frazier and Ali, and it can be argued that he learned things from or was inspired by these fighters and this helped shape him into the boxer he was in his prime. Ever-ongoing advances in nutrition, knowledge, training routines etc. also make the fictional head to head an invalid one when judging ATG'ness imo

    Tyson was an underachiever

Those who new him likely expected his slow decline ad downfall once Cus passed and Tyson got so famous and rich anyhow.
