I say NO , Klitschko should fight Winner of Fury/Chisora or Stiverne/Wilder

and if the winner´s of these matches does not want to fight
then it should rain money penalties or other stuff.
Fury talks for years he wants to fight Klitschko.

    Sadly your'e right.......

But imagine the backlash of Wlad fighting yet another former CW Champion at least 3 yrs past his best, ie Mormeck?????

USS was the very best CW in the world just 3 yrs ago when he went toe to toe with JPH in back to back fights.

Since his move to HW, he's had 1 excellent win, 1 very close, even controversial L to a top 5 in Adamek, and beat better journeyman in more convincing fashion than has Briggs......however.......like Mormeck, he's lacking in size, and therefore the "punchers chance" theory goes out the window, whereas Briggs is a 6'4 260 lb tank who would have a punchers chance against any HW in history, even at 43.:think :think

I use to think the Hasim Rahman approach to padding for a title shot was the standard, but Briggs may have set the new standard.

After losing to Maskaev the second time around Rahman beat Sykes, Ryan, Fox, and needed a 10th round KO to avoid losing to Zuri Lawerence, after his NC with Toney he met Wlad, lasting 7 rounds.

No problem for Rahman, his next "rise to the top" was even more "impressive" beating such luminaries as Boldridge, Miller, Reed, McGee, and Brown, before losing to Povetkin and 2.

I wonder who wins a round robin tournament between Rahman and Briggs opponents en route to a title. My money would be on Shannon Miller, with live dogs being Rob Calloway and Love...meaning that according to the new award I just made up right now Shannon Briggs has "The Most Least Impressive Path to a (potential) Championship Shot" in heavyweight history.

This is interesting, I tend to agree with you. Meanwhile Rahman losing his round robins to none other than Antz Nansen (who?!) who has fought 4 boxing matches in his life.

Just shows how done Rahman is...he was done pre Povetkin but way way over cooked now...which means he'll be a perfect opponent for Briggs any day now.

A lot of people forget how bad Rock looked that night - and in fact, shortly before he pulled it outta the fire, Zuri actually got him in a little hot water and it seemed like he might get knocked out!!!! By zero KO having Lawrence!! That's NONE, 0 in 44 starts. Retired with a record of 24-15-4 (0).

That he contended for a world title just over a year later is still a complete joke and evidential of why people say the division on the whole in this era is a joke. No fault of Wladimir's, as he can only beat what stands in front of him (namely, those who get themselves ranked, 'doing enough' in the eyes of the sanctioning body decision makers) but ****. His credentials since the draw with Toney included: getting KTFO in Maskaev II, a bum tour in 2007 consisting of all meaningless tomato cans and then ultimate feather-fist Zuri Lawrence who almost stopped Rahman and who just needed to hold on another 40 seconds to have taken a MD on the official judges' cards. Then you have the rematch with Toney, in which Rahman also looked very shaky and in jeopardy early from the former middleweight. :patsch

That he got the shot at Klitshcko was ******ed. He was dealt with in a manner befitting that, like he didn't belong in the ring with Klitshcko at that stage of his career, because he didn't.

...and then he got another shot, at Povetkin, four years later!!!! :-(

If somehow Briggs manages to viral-video his way into a second title opportunity, four years after looking to not belong in the ring with Vitali, in a title shot he never deserved in the first place, it will be every bit as bad as Rahman's story.

...and Wladimir Klitschko vs. Shannon Briggs will be no more competitive than Alexander Povetkin vs. Hasim Rahman was.

After Wlad dispatched Rahman I bet my friend (also a poster in here - I won't call him out, lol) that Rahman would get another title shot before his career was over. He called me crazy, and the like, and I wanted to believe him that I was wrong, but I felt so strongly about it. I'd be lying if I said I knew it would take four years, but he did get the shot, which in a way makes it a lot worse.

I truly believe Shannon Briggs will get a title shot, and once again, I am waiting to be proven wrong. Only way he doesn't in if his next fight or two he is stopped by a guy outside of the top 100 while waiting for Wlad to fight the fighters that make more sense.

Good insight IB, I forgot he was almost stopped by Zuri...oy.

There are two common denominators here. One, is the WBA...***uming Briggs gets a shot, and the fact they gave Rahman a shot. The second is how long your name is good in certain eyes for getting a signature win.

Maybe, but Rahman was DANGEROUSLY shot against Povetkin, almost as bad as the likes of Williams, and Beck. He had absolute no business being in the ring with Povetkin, while badly faded in 08' at least he still had a pulse. Briggs is way past his best at this point obviously, but at least he isn't dangerously shot like Rahman.

If the fight would actually happen. I think I would worry for Shannons healt, because Briggs has a good chin. He would probably take too many shots from the biggest puncher in the world. I dont like that ecuation.

    How do we know that?

We saw Vitali hospitalize Briggs, and since then haven't seen him in with a single live body. Not one.

For all we know he could be every bit as shot as Rahman, or even more.

Rahman lost to a 2-3 fighter last time, while Briggs knocks tomato cans out in the first round.

Well, if we're going by their physiques, reflexes/reaction time, balance etc. I would have to say Rahman has slid much further than Briggs.

Rahman lost to Anthony Nansen in the Super 8 Heavyweight Tournament(more like the Shot 8) Now while dreadful, I would say that least some of the opposition Briggs has beaten on his bum tour are on par with, or better than Nansen, especially Love. Do you agree???
