And this is why it was all staged -- everyone, including Wladimir and Vitali -- knows that what you've stated is true. They knew it four years ago, so it's even more profound now.

Even Wilder would deserve criticism for fighting Briggs at this point. That's saying something. Briggs has an arguably worse "run" of opponents than those on Wilder's record. Even Harrison was a better opponent and he was shot to bits.

HBO definitely wants Klitschko to fight an American next. And if Jennings or Wilder are not available Briggs won't be the worst choice. At least it would be a sellable fight.

The question is, would HBO look down upon Wladimir facing the winner of Fury/Chisora II in his next fight? To be honest, I don't think they would dismiss a potential Wlad-Fury fight in favor of Wlad vs. "insert completely washed up, relatively forgotten American who is shot" fight. Especially if that fighter was Briggs (a guy who was beaten to a pulp in the ring vs. Wladimir's big brother, Vitali). I'll go as far as saying that Briggs has done absolutely nothing to show that he should still be boxing professionally following that 2010 Vittles exhibition.

The winner of that Fury-Chisora rematch will be free to work with Wladimir to set their fight up by a March/April date. If Jennings wants to sit on his WBC position and wait it out for the Stiverne/Wilder mess to clear up, then Wladimir could still get a big money fight against the Fury-Chisora II winner (potentially in England).

I don't think HBO wants the Briggs fight at all, but K2 Promotions could definitely influence them into backing it. K2 also promotes GGG, so they actually have leverage with HBO now, unlike before. HBO is grooming Golovkin into a network superstar. They don't want to lose that.

If the Briggs fight happens within the next 12 months -- and Briggs continues to knock over complete tomato cans, cabbies, and middle-school janitors instead of a couple of legit contenders -- then it will be because K2 and Boente wanted it. In the end, it's not even worth discussing anymore. Whatever happens, happens.

I think the fight is already a done deal, but time will surely tell. Just waiting to see how much further they go to convince people it wasn't staged since Briggs miraculously showed up again over the Summer.

    No chance. None whatsoever.

After the first round, Briggs becomes a heavy bag with eyes. That could actually happen even before the end of the first!

Briggs can barely move these days and actually has deplorable stamina (it's not all down to him being asthmatic, but it's also conditioning). Wlad is definitely capable of 'pulling a Ray Austin' on him. Actually, Wladimir is supposed to, all things considered. :toney:ko

Ok then Ali is a joke as well, for fighting Coopman and Dunn... Why not call every heavyweight champ ever a "joke" while you're at it?

It's just going to be a fight where wlad can shut up a loudmouth and then move on to a bigger fight . Do I want to see the fight not particularly
