    this

Wilder is a heck of a nice guy but cant fight. he has to be embarrassed how the 2nd biggest promoter in boxing has handled his career....hes never fought on a ppv card....hes the first guy from the u.s. in 20 years to win a medal in the olympics (at heavy) and is still the master of "showtime extreme" after about 28 fights. Ray Mercer won a medal in 88 and was fighting on National TV every fight....hell his first fight was a PPV undercard of duran vs barkley.
the idea of promoting a guy like this which is a rarity is to put him on TV so people will talk about him. only people that talk about him are message board junkies here. there is a reason they dont showcase this guy....everyone will know how bad he is

Marley and Briggs go way back. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Marley planted this story to create some buzz.

Marley was Briggs initial money man and backer when he turned pro. This is all BS. Marley is a clown.

Shannon Briggs said this in a Fightnews interview in 2012.

Aside from that it’s been quite easy for me because marketing is my passion. Even as a fighter it was my passion. My former promoter Don King said that was something that he always respected about me was my ability to market myself. You can say what you want about Don King but you can’t deny his accomplishments in boxing as they speak for themselves. For him to give me that kind of compliment is major. I can market anything. My motto is this: You can say what you want about me but just talk about me.

If this actually comes off it will make an absolute mockery of heavyweight boxing, the rankings systems and the belts. Wlad loses a massive amount of credibility as well. Boxing is supposed to be a real sport not a poorly disguised re-run of rocky 3.

The Briggs cameo into Klitschko's gym was staged. Wlad doesn't have a lot of opponents right now aside from Pulev who has earned a title shot.

Briggs for his part is in shape. Why not?

That's because you think Briggs will bumrush Wlad with wild swings. But what will really happen is Briggs is going to spend 8 rounds lazily throwing a powerless right, only to eventually fall down comatoze.

Briggs is only a devastating knockouter against part time boxers, when he knows he can go all out. Against well conditioned pros he is more concerned with not gassing than with winning. Case and point: Lyakhovich fight, where he threw 3 punches per round and only won because Sergei got stupid.

More of a mockery than seeing PEDerson retain his title in a robbery over Khan when he was roided to the gills.

Or him keeping his WW title after getting his shiit pushed in by Mathysee.

Or Garcia fighting a 17-3 journeyman, the type of opponent Briggs has beaten to come calling.:patsch:patsch:patsch

Oh, lighten up. At this late stage of Wlad's incredible career, ten year domination of heavyweight boxing he can do what he wants. Wlad may want an HBO televised fight in New York and if fighting the showman Briggs is the way then so be it. After he slaughters Pulev which he will there really is nothing left in terms of real, viable contenders anyway.

Its a joke of a fight, plenty more worthy challengers out there who would make a more exiting fight. Tyson fury being one for a start.

I agree with Chris Byrd. At this point if Wlad wants to stay active he can keep the title until he's fifty. If he wants to have some fun and entertain the fans WWE style go for it. I'm sure Shannon and Wlad are good friends. Hell, Wlad is a lot like Shannon. He mocked and made fun of Haye in the entire pre-fight build up. Made Haye look like a petulant schoolboy. The pre-fight build-up to a Wlad, Shannon showdown would be epic and then Wlad would win. Wlad always wins.
