I'm late to this thread but I've always had a special liking for Afolabi.

My first live fight was the Khan-Barrera card in Manchester in 2009. Afolabi was up against Maccarinelli on the undercard.

Me and my Dad got there a bit earlier to take the atmosphere in, and while we were waiting outside I saw what you would probably call a poor excuse for an entourage.

This big black guy in a tracksuit was being followed in toe by a couple of other guys, one of which was struggling to carry a kit. I realised it was Afolabi, just walking down the road adjacent to the stadium, no-one noticing who he was. I shouted "good luck Ola" and he turned around, gave me a thumbs up and smiled. Then he put his hands back in his pockets and carried on into the stadium with his small team.

Later on, to everyone's surprise, he knocked Maccarinelli the hell out.

    Abel Sanchez on Huck-Afolabi III:

“My fighter, Ola Afolabi, will be facing Marco Huck for a third time on March 2nd in Germany,” insists Big Bear Lake based fight trainer. “I just spoke with Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions and he stated that the deal is 99.9% completed.”

Seven months ago, the two powerful Cruisers met in the ring for a second time and treated the fight fans in attendance to an entertaining slugfest and fight of the year candidate. Because the competitive sequel ended with an inconclusive majority draw verdict, most die-hard fight fans have been clamoring for third pairing between Huck and Afolabi.

Abel Sanchez is hoping that a third fight will indeed be the charm for Ola Afolabi.

“Both previous fights were very competitive and entertaining. So it just makes sense to do it again. The first bout resulted in a very close win for Huck, and the second was an entertaining majority draw. So hopefully the third bout will finally end in my fighter’s favor.”

Although Huck and Afolabi are very evenly matched, the renowned fight trainer believes the separation between the two fighters will come from Ola’s preparation for their March 2nd clash.

“The difference in this fight will be that he’ll be with me for the entire training camp this time. He’ll be training with me in Big Bear for a full and consecutive eight weeks, and he’ll be able to take advantage of how we train in my gym for two full months.”

The prolific fight trainer’s high-altitude facility attracts the best fighters in the world throughout the entire calendar year because of the favorable training conditions in and around Big Bear Lake. The former interim WBO Cruiserweight Champion should receive an abundance of quality sparring at the heralded California training compound in his preparation for the current title holder.

Coach Sanchez is adamant that the difference will be very noticeable on March 2nd.

"Ola will be a different fighter in the third bout. He will not only beat Marco Huck this time, he’ll do it decisively."

Ola shares his thoughts on Huck-Arslan "robbery", Sauerland shady decisions, training in Big Bear,, Wild Card, Freddie Roach, life after boxing, commentating etc.

On how he got into boxing:

"My father was a boxer, my brother was a boxer. They kinda sucked though."

    On his amateur career:

"Before I turned pro I was sparring like 12 rounds with James Toney, Francois Botha. Whoever you can name. Thats pretty much my amateur career, you know just sparring (in the Wild Card gym)"

Some of his best memories in Wild Card:

"Probably James Toney threatened to shoot me everytime we spar...then 5 minutes later he said "good job". I think he might be bipolar but whatever, that's James Toney"

    Message to his fans:

"Keep supporting me, man. I'm just an honest guy. Just hustling, you know. I'm not faking it. No bread and butter, nobody is feeding me. I'm just fighting, entertaining when I can and if I win I win. Peace."

Since Golovkin is accustomed to spar with bigger guys, including Cruisers and Heavies. I'm sure Sanchez will let them have a go at each other in Big Bear.

I'd pay to see those sparring sessions :bbb

Ola's class, entertaining in the ring and always posting hilarious **** on his facebook and chatting with his fans and stuff. Seems like a genuine down to earth fella.

It cracks me up how he's a massive hipster too. He knocks people out for a living and then goes and posts instagrammed photos of starbucks coffee on his facebook

    Warla Warfolabi

    Yeah I went there.
