The old school boxers seemed like party animals but had unreal stamina

    they fought more often, people dont understand how valueable taht is

    They also ran 5 times as far ie trained for conditioning much harder. Todays fighters trade conditioning training for strength training (mostly)

    I think that's actually the answer there. They fought so often they simply didn't have enough time to party themselves out of condition between fights.

    I figure its because of their extreme fighting schedules that they were alot more relaxed in the ring and used up far less energy because of that.

    the odd non-title loss didn't seem to bother them and they seemed to treat these fights as training

    Todays fighter fought at a higher instensity.

    Their punches are faster and harder, their footwork quicker.

    Also their are no video of the fighter who got tired as they were usless and nobody wants to see them. Plenty of videos and reports of all time greats, who of course would have been fit.


    Todays fighter are definitely fitter.

    Though not greatly in terms of stamina, but certainly in terms of 'power' which is an equally important form of fitness.

    I think it's a different kind of conditioning. Being in shape 24/7 vs 'peaking' on a certain date, after which there is a long lay-off.
