Cool short video including a good break down of the fight buts its no "Jomboy" breakdown so don't get your hopes up. Shout out to Ybarra's Mind! This content is protected
even that footage IS BETTER than most of the Old Fight Footage, good basic skills... looked as though it might have been a good fight. Proving once again, when the Film is Right, so too are the fighters. Thank You.
I wish I knew but I can say it was more likely filmed in 1901, the year it’s given on several other versions posted to YouTube before the version linked here. Not sure if it’s a 100% legit fight (both likely knowing there is a camera filming) but a few punches do appear to land. Either way, their sparring looks okay, as you said, a nice jab there and also a smooth duck under a punch - one guy also dealing with holding his flat cap in his right hand. Lol. EDIT: I found this version which describes it as being in North London This content is protected
@Cecil this is the compete footage from which the shorter clip has been extracted (“fight” at 4:55) with a better description included. Absolutely fascinating footage altogether, especially after upscaling - far more relatable than the old jerky black and white. Tough times and very tough people. Transport me back right now to their times and lots in life and I don’t know how long I’d last. This content is protected
Ah Pug that’s absolutely fascinating, some of the best old footage I’ve ever seen, you could almost step into that. You look at those fella’s and that’s the background that fighters then came from. You wonder about the overall toughness of fighters from back then compared to now.
Especially with those advancements in sports nutrition and technique. These guys were good for their time
They were actually walking out of the earliest known PED factory - which had been operating covertly at the time. Breaking Bad, turn of the century style. The workers weren’t told what they were making - they simply had to do what they were told without question. Very hush hush. That pair of scallywags had been pinching and ingesting some of the mysterious product over a period of weeks - and then, one day, voila, two highly skilled fighting machines emerged, punching on reflexively - the historic moment, accidentally caught on film. Unfortunately, that little scuffle recorded on film caused the shut down of the factory and saw a decades long freeze on the manufacture of PEDs.
I read something similiar. It definitely was a Portable Electrical Device factory and the man filming was a disgruntled employee who stole the first PED. Its been roomered this man was a decedent of Ashton Kutcher and payed the two street fighters to "troll the audience". Ashton later said during one of his hundreds of nominations that if it wasent for his ancestor there would have never been "Punked" on Mtv.
Ashton could certainly have done with some sort of PE drug(s) to upgrade the quality of his acting career. When Charlie Sheen left his hit series, they did a slight shuffle and Kutcher was slotted in as the 1/2 man.
I'm having trouble because the horizontal hold on this thing is wonky. I will definitely bookmark this for later though, thank you.
Love watching film like this, people from long ago. I've seen film like this before, from the North of England, all the men with the caps and the young lads too. Hard Times, we grumble about today but we mostly have it so much easier nowadays.
