Is it seeded at all? I'm just askin' because the Brits seem to have tough draw. Delgale - Estrada in the 2nd round MWs is slightly unfortunate Price - Timurziev in 1st round SHWs is gutting!
Well, I'm strongly against it being unseeded. In my opinion the 2nd best guy deserves the silver medal instead of nothing just because he was drawn against the best guy in the first round.
Yes, its dumb as **** when you look at it that way. You just end up with deserving, talented guys that have been unlucky going home with jack ****, whereas somebody can get very lucky and steal a bronze. It's bull****.
Really feel for Price, I thought he could maybe sneak atleast a bronze if the draw was kind to him and now he's up against the no.1 SHW in the world in his first fight.
it's very fair actually, why should these boxers be judged on past accomplishments when they all had to go through the same qualifying processes, should they not go into the olympics as equals?the best man should prevail and everyone has equal chance of drawing anyone,i feel by seeding it you would create some boredome in it as you can basically predict the last 4!
If thats the case, we get a higher level top 4, which can only be good for the sport. If the others are deserving of a medal, they'll beat the top seeds anyway. It happened today in the LHW division, a nobody beat the favourite. All this system does is cater for flukes.
i completely agree that it caters for flukes but that's one thing i like about it,everyone got there through qualiying by way of an objective qualifying system, does that not mean that everyone should be there as equals, should someone ranked no.32 in the world be disadvantaged by fighting the world no.1 in the first round?i believe not as they all achieved their place in the same manner. do you not think that the chances of a fluke is a good thing,it certainly aids excitement and of course has helped our irish boys this year .
I also think there should be a box off for the bronze medal :deal I think it depends on your own views, it would be great to see the best fighters facing each other in the most important fights rather than in the first round, but on the flip side Man Utd vs Chelsea makes a cracking FA Cup 3rd round tie as well.
