I think the pain element is one of those things that comes with experience. only in the last year or so have i come to appreciate the pain of oh say squat 5 reps with 95% of your 1RM rest pause style. i spend 8+ hours a day in an office wasting away sitting in front of this computer. all day i look forward to going to war. for 45 minutes a day, i go to war with an opponent who never tires. he never makes excuses, or has an "off" day. the day for him is spent breaking lesser men as they attempt to make excuses why the iron was better than them today "maybe tomorrow..." they say, but tomorrow is the same for them. for 45 minutes a day, i am a ****ing warrior prepared to leave everything i have in the rack. if you want to come in and make excuses why the iron beat you today, stay away from me.
that saying reminded me of my heavybag... EDIT: especially this part: i spend 8+ hours a day in an office wasting away sitting in front of this computer. all day i look forward to going to war. for 45 minutes a day, i go to war with an opponent who never tires. he never makes excuses, or has an "off" day. the day for him is spent breaking lesser men as they attempt to make excuses why the iron was better than them today "maybe tomorrow..." they say, but tomorrow is the same for them. for 45 minutes a day, i am a ****ing warrior prepared to leave everything i have in the rack. if you want to come in and make excuses why the iron beat you today, stay away from me.
It's when we are at our most unmotivated, most tired, and most doubtful that we should anticipate our greatest challenge. It is then that we look back at all the hard physical and mental training we have done and know with confidence, born to fight, trained to kill, prepared to die but never will. Not thinking of winning and not thinking of losing. Become an empty vessel. Leave yourself open to the presence of war, determination, and endurance. Forget the self and become an ideal. Only then will the promise of hell emerge in your eyes. Keep going brothers (and sister) ".....and again we enter the valley of death, but we shall fear no evil for we are the baddest mother****ers in the valley." Richard Marcinko, Leader of SEAL Team 6 in Grenada
Like mustard, (curls) have their place. You want to put mustard on a ham sandwich, that's great. You want to eat a bowlful of mustard, you're an idiot. - flak
I wish neither to possess, Nor to be possessed. I no longer covet paradise, More important, I no longer fear hell. The medicine for my suffering I had within me from the very beginning, But I did not take it. My ailment came from within myself, But I did not observe it Until this moment. Now I see that I will never find the light Unless, like the candle, I am my own fuel, Consuming myself.
"There is only one sin. That is weakness... The only saint is that soul that never weakens, faces everything, and determines to die game. Stand up and die game!... Do not add one lunacy to another. Do not add your weakness to the evil that is yet to come. That is all I have to say to the world. Be strong! You talk of ghosts and devils. We are the living devils. The sign of life is strength and growth. The sign of death is weakness. Whatever is weak avoid it. It is death. If it is strength, go down into hell and get hold of it! There is salvation only for the brave. None but the brave deserves the fair. None but the bravest deserves salvation. Whose hell ? Whose sin ? Whose weakens ? Whose death?.... Deny evil, create none. Stand up and say I am the master of all. We forge the chain and we alone can break it.... ....The sign of vigor, the sign of life, the sign of everything that is good, is strength. As long as body lives, there must be strength in the body, strength in the mind, strength in the hand. Freedom is never to be reached by the weak. Throw away all weakness. Tell your body that it is strong, tell your mind that it is strong and have unbounded faith and hope in yourself. The greatest sin is to think of yourself as weak"
