Agree. Why the hell haven't they hired a commentator since they got rid of Halling. I didn't like Halling but he's far better than Smith. He would actually say one bad thing about a Matchroom man in every ten. Smith will never do it and he just speaks crap through commentary and uses same lines for every press conference, overhyping everything. There's got to be a good commentator somewhere. I thought that Andy Clarke they got for a couple of cards was far better than him. Sky are a joke the best pundits are Jamie Moore and Paul Smith who is biased to his mates but knows his boxing and explains the technical stuff to the layman very well. They only use the likes of these on he small shows but will get clueless Froch in for the big ones. It's a good job Malignaggi's there sometimes to tell it how it his, he has plenty of brain cells left despite his wars.
Yep and very good at his job. Sky Boxing wasn't in a great place but his turned it around. After the Haye ppv debacles Sky Boxing was looking weak. Going exclusive with matchroom and starting again was the best decision he made.
Pretty sure that decision was made before Smith got that role. As head of boxing he clearly has too much impact on the content produced.Promo’s,punditry and commentary all have Smiths grubby hands all over them.Why not hand the reigns over to Andy Clarke full time and fulfill your other duties.
Bellew v Haye ppv numbers say hi. Not forgetting AJ is signed to matchroom who are signed with Sky. Like it or not Sky took a gamble on matchroom and it paid off big time.
Matchroom shows tend to be better on the whole than Frank Warren shows. The only grievance I’ve got with Sky is their lack of shows from abroad. This superfly for example. It’s got repercussions for Yafai and they just don’t seem interested. Wilder - Ortiz is an exception because it has repurcussions for the cash cow.
